Put a fork in them. The Jets will lose the game, and until someone beats the Patriots, I consider them the team to beat in the AFC.

No way Mike, not even close.

a lot closer than you think.

FB should be nowhere near the top simply because the position itself is not that valuable. The difference between the best FB in the NFL and the worst FB in the NFL is not nearly as meaningful as saying that same statement for any other position.

Needle,

Not really. The "physical punishment" a line men receives over a whole game pales to what a QB receives on a helmet to helmet contact of a WR getting squared up on by a safety. Yes, they do make physical contact every play, but so does the D-Line and argument that the O-Line can't take a play off is real weak sauce. They can take plays off to the same degree that anyone else can take a play off. Well maybe not the same ways, but in different ways. Not every play involves every lineman taking another equal sized man and moving him from where he is standing to somewhere else.

I do give the O-Line a cerebral edge over skill position players who typically have to worry about only their relatively simple assignment. However, this pales compared to QBs managing the game and knowing others responsibilities as well as there own. Just having to worry about getting the play, handling the huddle, getting to the line and checking to the correct play if necessary is far more mentally than anyone else has to do before the play even starts.

I clearly have too much time on my hands. But my ranking would be:

QB>>>>>>>>O Line>MLB (or defensive captain in rare circumstances)>Other defense>WRs>RBs>Kicker/Punter

The argument isn't about value its about difficulty to play. You see, as hard as it might be for some people to understand sometimes, there is actual physical activity involved in football. It isn't all sitting at a computer and manipulating statistics.

Full backs have less value because they're -- gee, this is revolutionary -- used less often. Yeah, it's exceedingly difficult to play a position that has a depreciated role.

Is it my TV or are they popping popcorn?

This freaked me out the first time I heard it, too.

Fortunately, the Pats scored early and often. Once I realized that these noises only came up after Patriots' scoring plays, it became clear what the noise was: those Bunker Hill guys behind the goalposts, firing their muskets.
