I'm confused, do party actually collect this extra rake? What is the benefit from this promotional other then extra marketing? I dont think its a short term money grab.....

[/ QUOTE ]

If a bill were to be passed and U.S. players were to leave, they could profit immensely, I think others are insinuating. I have no idea about that though.

Again, the money isn't going into Dikshit's checking account. It goes towards the BBJ (EV neutral -- NL players are a little worse off), and towards these promotions (EV+ if you play them and play well)

Where it is going is not nearly the issue that where it is coming from is.

They don't gain anything besides the marketing. This thread is retarded.

They're going to "give away" well into the seven figures here. That's going to attract lots of new players.

Long term profitablity is going to mean jack [censored] if people can't win in the short run as well. If this destroys the ability to beat the small stakes limit tables on Party is it any concolation that you may have a +EV chance to win back what you would have already had in tournaments at a later date?

This is where EV theory meets the real world. Who cares if this promotion is +EV if it substantialy increases a players risk of ruin????

Good news for 25/50 NL players, some donk is going to win these tournaments and decide to splurge at the high stakes tables with their new found fortune...

And you don't find the near mandatory participation in this "promo" retarded?

You also don't mind low stakes games being virtually unprofitable (or at very best very very reduced/lowly profitable) retarded?

And you also don't find it retarded that this promo LAST ALMOST A WHOLE YEAR?

There is alot of retardation you're missing.

guys the jackpot is upto 150k, that negates much of the negative extra rake, at limits 3/6 up, and at 220k ish its negated at 2/4

yeah more variance, but it's not as bad as its made out to be

I honestly think it is a good thing for Party Poker as a business. The fish will love it. The causual player will love it. Not very many people out there know about rake, winrates, and the sudtlties of what makes poker profitable.

They'll eat it up.

For someone looking to actually make money in the long run at lower stakes? Well, look elsewhere because Party is going to suck if the regular tables take a big hit from this.
