So this is really depressing, because I'm stuck living in a place with no cable for 3-4 weeks meaning I will probably only get to watch the finals. And it's looking more and more like the inevitable SA-Det series of horror. I know it's rigged, and even David Stern should be able to figure out that SA-Det is not in the best interest of all those living outside Michigan and Texas, so I want to hear about some Sacto-LAL style refereeing screwjob to get some combination of Cleveland, Suns, GS, or even Utah in the finals. Actually from the sound of things, simply fair officiating might be enough. Really I can even live with the Pistons because I respect them and they really aren't that bad to watch. Just keep the Spurs out.
It's not even that I really hate the Spurs that much. I think the whining thing is overplayed as they are only moderately worse than most other teams. They just play a fundamental style of basketball that isn't particularly entertaining, especially for the casual fan like me. They win by intentionally trying to get to the line on O (and getting a ton of calls), shooting threes at a high %, then limiting turnovers/fast breaks and playing tough D. They basically take away everything that most people would consider fun to watch in a basketball game. |

It's ok to complain about officitating when you're a Nash/Suns fan, but when you mention GS it's you're a stupid homer fanboy. [/ QUOTE ] QFT of the thread. seriously, the day to day change of the posters here is hilarious. Warriors fan complains, we are tin foil hat wearing conspiracy theorists. Suns fans complain, standard. welcome to hypocrisy. I mean its the exact same people who were upset that warriors fans were complaining last week who are complaining about it this week. makes sense.. |

Suns fans = complain about weak officiating during game and afterwards during post game comments.
Warriors fans = complain about weak officiating: before game, during game, during half-time, after game, later that evening, early the next morning, all day for the next week until the series is over. If Warriors win series complaining stops until 45 minutes before Game 1 of next series. If Warriors lose complaining goes on until the Sun turns into a red dwarf and engulfs planet Earth killing everyone. |

Another late DVR night....damn family in town.
I'm not sure what to make of this one. The Spurs got 1 good quarter from TP, 1 good (ok, excellent) quarter from Manu, and some scattered shots here and there from the rest of the supporting cast. Luckily Duncan > God. I don't like the way the Spurs defended Nash in the 1st half. His stat line was very misleading. TP was just not able to stay in front of him, and while Nash wasn't scoring at all, he was using his penetration to set up PHX for wide open 3s all over the place. They turned him into more of a scorer in the 2nd half, and while Nash hit a bunch of great shots, the team as a whole suffered. I thought, ignoring the fact that he travelled on basically every possession, Diaw had an outstanding 1st half. The one where he reversed back on Timmy under the basket was a thing of beauty. Then for some reason he crawled right back into the hole he'd been hiding in all series. The off-ball foul on Amare was probably bogus, although it was hard to tell, as it wasn't on the screen live, and they wisely decided to show the replay from a camera on the opposite side of the building. Amare's other 4 fouls were just stupid, terrible defense on his part. It looked like his ego refused to let Timmy throw one down on him, so he hacked him every time. Amare really showed TD who was boss....really.... I [censored] hate the court level camera. They might as well just put up [censored] color bars. It would be easier to follow the action. Anyway, everything else aside, I have the stat to end all stats as to why SA won the game: Tony Parker, PG 41min Jacque Vaughn, PG 7min |

[/ QUOTE ] awesome. rad. ellipses for dramatic effect.... If you can't see the differences between the temper tantrum you threw or By-Tor going on and on about the Fisher no-call (the one Baron knew he messed up on), and the Suns fans saying, "man, that charge on Amare was BS and Duncan got away with stuff, which is standard because he's a superstar", then there's really no hope for you in this thread. |

[/ QUOTE ] It may or may not have been, it's just we're seeing a lot of these calls lately, and I think a lot of defenders are trying to draw them. I mentioned earlier Raja Bell drew two, one on Finley where he just fell down when Finley breathed on him, and the other in a screen situation where there was some contact, but it still looked like a bit of a flop. I've seen Manu do it before. I've seen Diaw do it. Devin Harris tried it at half-frickin'-court in the first round at a big point in the game. Luckily the ref didn't bite. If anything, the ref should have blew the whistle, gone over to the scorer's table, gotten on the mic and said, "Devin, seriously quit being such a bitch, we're all starting to not like you". The only really legit off the ball foul calls are push-offs to get open and illegal screens to get other guys open. Most other stuff lately just seems like defenders trying to get a whistle. It just strikes me as not in the "spirit of the game". No one in their right mind would pull that crap in a pick-up game. The pros should follow suit. |

Does the NBA give out T's for flopping? If not, any chance they might start, like soccer?
