pedroia deserves a chance for sure and I have no doubt that he will be a decent MLB player. However the general theme of my post was more a lame attempt to discuss why the sox spend so much money in the most random places (not counting the great acquisition of Okajima(sp) and matsuwalka [I love him but the 0-2 walks need to stop ahaahaha])

To recap:
Trading Arroyo for Willy MO
Letting go of damon (for pennies compared to the drew acquisition)
Picking up coco
Letting go of Loretta (contract year and would be expensive kinda hurts my argument)
Signing JD
NEW UPGRADES
Loretta, damon, willy mo (pedroia) for pedoria, coco and jdrew (WMP off the bench)

I just don’t see the big improvement here.

PS im just talking baseball im not trying to hate. I love the sox as is!!! great win tonight against a great pitcher and tough team. NICE WIN DICE-K

lol, you stink at the > game.

which one of these is not correct?

[/ QUOTE ]

having JD drew and crisp on the same level is absurd...thinking pena is roughly equal to drew is absurd.

thinking damon is anything but a SMIDGEN better than drew is absurd.

loretta is basically a $3m version of todd walker, without the power. i'll never understand why people miss him. pedroia can hit .250 and still be more valuable than loretta was last year

I dont think coco and drew are even close. I didnt mean for it to look that they were on the same level thats why there is a comma i can see were you got that tho. It was meant to be two separate inequalities.

And i do think that given a chance full time Willy Mo can be as good as Drew at the plate and substantially cheaper. The money saved could have been spent on a proven second baseman or elsewhere. Moral of my story I didn’t think trading arroyo who is a great 4,5 guy for a prospect and then not giving the prospect a chance after he proved to be great last year is very smart!!!!

And seeing us let go of Damon because of money and then spend a bunch elsewhere pissed me off I guess im still a bit bitter because everytime I see damon in a NNY uniform and smiling it makes me sick (still wish the guy the best just not in September).

Yeah I hate career 300 hitters with a 380 OBP that play good defense. Granted he is getting old and thus injury prone but to say he sucks is very very bold. Plus the extra 3m is nothing to a team like the sox who have proven that money actually does grow on trees. I didnt mind letting him go its more the series of events that didnt make sense to me.

On a more uplifting note, GO WAKE - brake out your brooms here comes the sweep!!!!!

.360 OBP for Loretta would be more accurate. I'm fine with/without him, and would prefer him in 2007 to Pedroia, but it's clear the FO wanted to go in a different direction. I was disappointed however they didn't go after Marcus Giles who the Padres got for pennies. Both second basemen underperformed a bit last year, but Giles is younger and has more power so it seemed silly to go with Pedroia with both of these guys available for little.
