gg, Patriots. great season, Jets.

Can't wait to do it again next year!

[/ QUOTE ]

Sigh. I lost a ton of meals on this game. We need to find a way to score TDs when the other team doesn't miss tackles, blow coverages, etc. Also, need a ton of defensive players.

Next year, perhaps, we can add Michael Turner and Tony Gonzalez. After that, right side of the O line, then all D. We're on the right track. Good premiere for the new coaching staff, FO, and hopefully we can go 10-6 against next year's schedule.

On the Pats, that front 3 is just so nasty. I was surprised at how much pressure they were getting sending those guys + a LB. If we had a strong armed QB, we may have been able to attack the secondary, which is prob how you beat these guys. We'll see what SD can do I guess.

Good luck Pats fans. And whoever I owe meals/avatars to, PM me.

Hmm, I feel like DT is one of the few positions where guys are still productive at ~35: Sam Adams, Ted Washington, Warren Sapp, Rob Traylor...

[/ QUOTE ]
I immediately thought of those types but there are so many guys getting pounded out of the league in a year or two that bring the average way down.

I cannot wait for the day that everyone gets off the Pats jock. Everyone still seems to think they are unbeatable. People made excuse after excuse when they lost to Denver last year.

I'm expecting a Chargers victory next weekend, as long as Rivers doesn't have another 1-10 for 9 yards first half.

[/ QUOTE ]

i'm a pats fan who picked baltimore to win the super bowl this year. i think indy loses at baltimore and even if the pats beat the bolts they'll have a tough time coming into baltimore and beating them too.

that said, the pats D matches up pretty well with the chargers - front 7 is nasty, they're decent against the run and you can guarantee they will throw something whacky at rivers. your 'as long as...' scenario is something the pats have been able to create against better quarterbacks in the past than rivers. i hope harrison's back.

i like the bolts BTW and i hope they go all the way if they beat the pats.

Well, the reason that the Pats lost to Denver last year is because they turned the ball over 5 times. I really didn't hear anyone saying anything different.

The 11-7 2005 New England Patriots are not the 13-4 2006 New England Patriots.

That Patriots team was 17th in points allowed, this one is 2nd in points allowed behind only the Ravens. In fact, this team is probably the second best team in the Patriots dynasty, only behind the 4th-ranked offense and 2nd-ranked defense of the 17-2 2004 New England Patriots.

SD -6 +104 on Pinnacle. Probably not right, but SD is a better team playing at home.

[/ QUOTE ]

Looks like it's already been hammered down to -5 -106.

Looks like it's already been hammered down to -5 -106. I was debating on betting against the Chargers because that opening line was a hanging curve.

I don't want to steer you away from anything if you think its +ev but you better make it a helluva a bet if you are going to be rooting against your team.

The 2003 patriots were probably better, comparatively, than this current team. While Tom Brady wasn't amazing back then, their defense was really, really damn good that year.

You know what, I do think this team matches up very well against the Chargers. They can handle the run, they can attack the Chargers secondary, they can confuse Rivers. The Chargers have home field, and they're better though. I'd put the line at -4.

Yeah, it's not worth it for a few hundred $ in +EV. Moot now that the line's corrected itself.
