Why is it that the undertone is all the teams beating ND are just worldbeaters and top ranked teams? [/ QUOTE ] Because it's obviously true. Look, everyone knows Ty left the cupboard bare. It's been "well documented" how the 26th and 40th ranked recruiting classes inevitably add up to a 1-7 team with the worst offense in the country. Who can be expected to beat, let alone score, against the likes of USC, Michigan, and uh...Michigan State...with Ty's uncoachable, non-NFL-bound talent? ![]() Northwestern's Heisman trophy candidate, 5 star recruit and potential top-5 NFL pick CJ Bacher threw for 520 yards when Northwestern played against Michigan State; obviously, only such world class talent could expose Michigan State like that. When Notre Dame faced off against that same Michigan State defense, Jimmaaaah Clausen threw for 53 yards before he was mercifully replaced by Sharpley, who tacked on 33 more. But remember, Charlie can't be expected to coach up Ty's 2 star recruits like Jimmah against world class defenses, like the vaunted Spartans of MSU. When Northwestern hangs 48 on MSU and Notre Dame can only put up 14 against that same team, the only thing left to do is embrace the "NO EXCUSES!!!1!!eleven!!" attitude Charlie has handed down to Domer nation...and let Ty know we'll never forget what he did to the program. |

If only Demetrius Jones never transferred he would obv be the man to shred Michigan via the ballin spread offense we saw the first week of the year.

[/ QUOTE ] The guy can't even find the bus to Ann Arbor; how is Weis expected to coach those kinds of guys? Only when you give uber-geniuses like Charlie world-class talent like Tom Brady can his coaching acumen really shine. As we all know, the only real way to fairly judge a coach is to measure his results when surrounded by exceptional talent. The No Excuses philosophy demands we withhold judgment of Weis until he can rid himself of Ty's baggage. |

The guy [Demetrius Jones] can't even find the bus to Ann Arbor; how is Weis expected to coach those kinds of guys? [/ QUOTE ] Just by the description I know he must be one of the losers that Ty recruited (when he wasn't playing golf). This is the sort of thing that tells you why we need to wait until 2009 to fully judge the direction of the program. |

Well, Notre Dame does have the second toughest schedule in the country per sagarin. [/ QUOTE ] yes, but they've underperformed verse that schedule to a ridiculous degree. The #50 team would have ~2.8 wins verse the schedule ND played according to sagarin predictor. Notre Dame is almost 2 games worse than the #50 team....that is really bad! |

Hay!! Leave Northwestern out of this.
But seriously, the Northwestern/MSU score includes 2 TDs apiece in OT. |
