[ QUOTE ] 2. The card rooms down here probably won't play hardball with each other regarding the rakes. If they were, then we'd have seen $32+$8 tournaments by now. They all run $45 tourneys ($32+$13) without fail. They'll all have the same rakes without fail. Do Vegas rakes vary? They may spread different games, though, and that may help set them apart. But don't expect them to cut corners with the rake. $120 an hour is too enticing for all of them to rock the boat. [/ QUOTE ] Actually, I am seeing 32+8 MTTs now at SKC. Still 32+13 for the SNGs though. And TB Downs was promoting 32+3 in the afternoon MTT before they closed for the summer. Competition has kicked in. [/ QUOTE ] I was in Sarasota a month ago, and SKC didn't have anything but 32+13s. |

[ QUOTE ]
I wonder if one of us can't sue over the time-charge rake, or at least complain to the regulatory agencies about it. I believe (correct me if I am wrong) that the rake is to be not greater than 10%/$5 max. If we can show that the $120 an hour that the propose to take is always (or at least substantially) more than 10% or $5 per hand, then maybe we can affect change on this. That said, I wouldn't mind paying a lower hourly charge -- it's good for the speed of the game. But the more we kick it around, the more this $6 per half hour charge seems like just another way to gouge us worse than they already are. I know that I sound like an ingrate -- after all, we ARE getting NL, and we ARE getting games resembling real poker -- but I'm gonna be bent if they continue to chop so much out of the game (as much as they can get away with, really) that it's next to impossible to beat it. [/ QUOTE ] There's no chance. Nearly every hand will have one raiser to $10-$15 and one caller. One out of every five pots or so will exceed $40, and one out of every so often of those pots will be in the $100s. Unless the table is full of braindead morons, the pots will easily exceed $1,200 in an hour. If they get in 45 hands in an hour, the avg. pot would have to be less than $26.7. Won't happen. The reality is that this time charge is all over the country. Detroit, Indiana, etc. If we could buy in for $200 or $300, I don't think there would be an issue. It's the $100 ceiling and the $12/hr shark nipping at your heels that makes this a real problem. |

this is how idiotic the state we live in. if you pay time instead then its correct to lossen up. but you cant loosen up if its a 50 big blind buy-in max. ive gone several times where it took me awhile to win a pot like 2 hours or more. some 50 hands. count up the blinds plus a time charge of 6-half hour and like i would be down to 60 friggen dollars by then. im thinking about moving to biloxi where they have real friggen poker. maybe even vegas. but i will never go back to ac because of the cold. [/ QUOTE ] DITTO Florida really is turning into a shithole. |

And yet, the discussions continue to perseverate about a time charge and a $100 buy in cap.

As stated months ago, even if passed, the rooms will find a way to screw it up. Meanwhile, we will continue to pay 3.25 for a beer when playing too.

Well, the discussions continue because WE LIVE HERE.
And I was really just floating the idea about protesting the time charge. SKC seems to be on a $5 per half hour charge, which is less [censored]. We'll talk about it when it happens -- it will require careful documentation if you want to protest it. |

Truth-Hopefully I for one will be moving from this state shortly. Something I believe a lot of residents here will be doing.
I do realize that some cannont leave the state for various reasons and also that many love Florida. Hopefully for them the poker landscape will be tolerable in 2-4 years. |
