Default venting

[vent]Man, I just got my ass handed to me. Variance is a biatch!

Hand 1: I have AA, villain has JJ - villain hits set on the turn.
Hand 2: I have JJ and run up against QQ.
Hand 3: I have JJ, villain has TT - villain hits a set on the flop.

All of this was in the span of about 10 minutes. And I played them all pretty poorly, too. That's the worst part. I should have lost less. Oh well.

Ahhh.. I feel better.[/vent]

I am now only down $230 for the month. Now, if I can just pull in 5 grand in the next 15 days I will reach my goal.

I don't care about the beat, but when did this become the way to play aces? Did I miss the memo? Did Ed Miller come out with a new book I don't know about?

Party Poker 0.50/1 Hold'em (6 max, 6 handed) CP hand converter

Preflop: Hero is BB with 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].
UTG calls, 3 folds, SB completes, Hero checks.

Flop: (3 SB) 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (3 players)
SB checks, Hero bets, UTG calls, SB calls.

Turn: (3 BB) J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (3 players)
SB checks, Hero bets, UTG raises, SB folds, Hero 3-bets, UTG calls.

River: (9 BB) 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero bets, UTG raises, Hero calls.

Final Pot: 13 BB

Results in white below:
Hero has 9s Jd (two pair, jacks and nines).
UTG has Ac Ah (two pair, aces and fours).
Outcome: UTG wins 13 BB.

It seems like every fish on party now limps aces, calls the flop, then pops the turn no matter what. These must be the same people that run around complaining they can't beat limit because someone always cracks their aces. The next time I'll flop a set on his azz.

Man. I am such a wuss.

All is well in the world.

Quit after the initial downswing for dinner. After dinner was a sweet table. (The thread on respondents to questions has the details.)

EDIT: Hmmm.. can't get my image to work. Anyway, I ended up recouping my loss and gaining the same amount. This post is very lame. Sorry.

Well, they pop the flop if there's paint, but it is to quibble.

The (bad) advice to slowplay aces has been around for decades. With the explosion of 6-max, that advice is apparently viewed as EV+ by most players (remember, 6-max is where people respect your raises and don't suck out on you). It happens with KK as well.

I hadn't played poker in about a month now due to various reasons. My first day back, and best day of my career. I didn't know a run of cards like this was possible (at least in the positive direction)

Just a shameless brag here.

Wow...so at the same time I've just had the worst two days of my poker career. How's this for night-n-day:

I didn't know a run of cards like this was possible (OK actually, yes, I did).

What a crazy game we play...

I quit right after it while I was winning lol
