[ QUOTE ] So whats the word for tonight? Is Hernandez ok to pitch? Is Bostick or Park coming up to pitch? If either do who goes on the DL is it Valentin or El Duque? Humber, Vargas, and Sosa all pitched this past weekend so they are unavailable. I hope El Duque is ok to go. [/ QUOTE ] Duque on DL. Bursitus in right shoulder. Park to make the start tonight. Per WFAN's 12:40 update.. [/ QUOTE ] yikes. James |

Daily News says Valentin is out for a month. I'm not sure where they got that from because there isn't any other news on Valentin. [/ QUOTE ] I heard he has an injured ACL, but no info as to severity of that injury. Perhaps it's just a strain. |

I know I'm really big on Mulvey(mostly becuase I saw him play) but he is off to a nice start this year. 1.13 WHIP and a 1.35 ERA. Not saying he is ready for the bigs but if he can pitch at this kind of level for periods of time throughout the year a September callup is not out of the question. I'd love for Peterson to get some time with him.

I guess you are excluding his first start of 1.1 IP 7 ER? Looks like his era is 4.84. Not that it matters, his peripherals are good after that bad 1st start. My understanding of him is that he has a lot of OK pitches but no dominant out pitch, and that he projects to be a middle of the road guy some day. This seems better than what Chan Ho Park projects to be.

we are gonna miss valentin's glove with easley in there i think. 2 balls that should have been caught no probs went in for hits and another blooper. they aren't hitting park hard at all, just a few walks and some bad fielding/luck.

obv the mets have done fine so far, but the pitching is a real concern now. we can't afford to give away 2.5 games per rotation(glavine and maine make us competitive, perez half the time, pelfrey and whomever else handing it over). Pelfrey is going to have to turn things around soon or things could get dire quick.
James edit: 2 batting practice fastballs from park confirm my fears. |
