[ QUOTE ]
This would've been funny if I knew what pique, ANWR, Cloak Room, and quorum were.

[/ QUOTE ]

ANWR -- a Novel Way to Read this Ron

pique -- to attack obliquely
quorum -- four fingers
cloak room --- a room where cloaks secretly congregate

Many possibilities exist. For example:

"I piqued my nose with a quorum in the cloak room".

I realize this has nothing to do with legislation. Sorry.

Er .. how about:

"I illegally piqued my nose with a quorum in the cloak room."

[ QUOTE ]
Meanwhile, leaders of the House and Senate Armed Services committees met privately late this morning to try to resolve major differences over a House provision that would allow military chaplains to pray in the name of Jesus Christ.

[/ QUOTE ]

Christ, can't they just make a decision?

Mr K/Berge,

With Reid against any sneak attacks, how much does that help our chances?

Either

It could be off the radar b/c of the big issues or it could simply not there.

[/ QUOTE ] good news is i just lost enough coinflips in a set of 10 sngs that im virtually guaranteed to win this one.

[/ QUOTE ]

Not to be a nit (ok to be a nit) just because it's either/or doesn't make it 50/50. I'd say for this round at least your all in with QQ against QJs. Not to mention the whole independent samples thing (I'm such a dick, sorry).

For this round, yea I guess that's about right. Overall for the rest of the year, it's probably something like our TT vs. AT. Last week it was AK vs. JJ.

It appears the DoD Authorization bill may slip into next week.

Hopefully the speculation that internet gambling is not in it are true, but I haven't been able to confirm that.

As I was walking out the door this AM, Fox and Friends had Frist coming up and said that it looks like they are ready to move on the DODA. I would have stuck around, but would have missed my train. Is it possible that this is done already?

In this case, ANWR is shorthand for legislation that would allow oil drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge

A quorum is the minimum number of legislators that must be present for a legislative body to do any business. What is it for the Senate, 60?

piqued = vexed, indignant, or more fundamentally, mad.

I can only assume that cloak room is some kind of off-the-record private meeting place where pols do business. I've always assumed that this was euphamistic and that Senators didn't actually negotiate in closets.

Possible something broke open overnight that I'm unaware of, but I'll keep ya posted.
