Try to transition to AIM early cause it's a lot easier than myspace messaging back and forth. My friend had some success with this, and could usefully contribute to this thread if he wasn't a one-man cockblock.

Just to give everyone an idea of what my current technique is I'll go through a recent messaging sequence.

I found a really hot girl who I'm sure gets tons of messages everyday from guys. first thing I notice that while she is really pretty her pics are not "give me attention types' which is good. She also has a picture of a goat with a caption about wanting a farm some day. I decide to use that.

I know what you mean about it feeling as though you're getting old. Did you ever see that Flinstones episode where the young people who listened to "bug music" moved in next store and Fred and the gang were all "we hate bug music" "poo on bug music", sometimes I feel like that when I listen to new stuff. Maybe that's just me though.
