God Bless the Milwaukee Brewers. At 6-0 after 2 I did not think the Cards had any chance tonight but then their starter couldn't throw a stike and they basically gave the game away (along with the outstading bullpen performance by the birds)

yep...god bless'em
Izzy actually looked good today I blame LaRussa for Mulder. Because he used an insane number of pitchers for 1 or 2 batters last Friday, There was no one to bring in on Saturday when Mulder struggled. LaRussa left Mulder in to be a pinata. That couldn't have been good for his arm fatigue or confidence. FSN Midwest is reporting that the Cards are looking at Craig Wilson. |

Jocketty was quoted as saying the Pirates asked for Anthony Reyes, and the Cardinals rejected pretty quickly. I read the Cardinals won't give up Reyes or Wainwright for a patch because they are expected to be in the rotation next year. They are looking to move one the Double-A pitching prospects that are evidently performing pretty well. If Reyes and Ponson can keep up his performance the Cardinals can move Marquis or Mulder and leave Reyes in the rotation. I'd look for Jocketty make a deal in the next couple weeks if the Cardinals don't stay around or above .500 without Pujols. Otherwise he can wait it out...

LOL @ Craig Wilson for Reyes. [/ QUOTE ] Seriously. Was this all that there was to this deal? Why would the pirates begin to think that the cards would even consider this? |

So I'm watching the Cards Brewers game right now and I have yet another question regarding LaRussa's managerial tactics. He has Molina (.214 hitter) batting seventh and Luna (.310 hitter) batting eighth. Cards string together a couple hits to put runners on first and second with one out. Molina is up and he had Molina sacrafice the runners over to get to Luna. WTF? Why would he have Molina hit in front of Luna if he's just going to sacrafice Molina to get to Luna? Now not only did only give themselves one shot to drive in the run, they can pitch really carefully to Luna because the pitcher's spot is up next.
Summary: Why is Molina still hitting in the seven hole? Especially when LaRussa makes decisions in the game that essentially acknowledge the fact that Molina should not me hitting in front of Luna/Miles. |

Molina is on a pretty good streak right now I think. His average went from 180 or so to 215. I have a feeling even if they were reversed Luna may be sacrificing them over for Molina.
As for who bats eighth, I think LaRussa bats a guy like Luna 8th for a couple reasons. First, I believe he likes having someone who is decent at the plate because he'll be able to get the pitcher up sooner and turn the lineup over. Second, he wants someone batting 8th who can run a little bit so it will be easier for the pitcher to sacrifice him over if said player gets on base with less than two outs... |

Molina is way to slow to bat 8th it takes a peferect sac bunt to get him to 2nd. Nice to take 2/3 from the Brewers need to beat up on the Pirates next before the schedule gets real tough.
