I would much rather keep $1000 on me and pay them that to leave if that meant I wouldn't have to shoot someone in the head. Maybe more, like $5k.

[/ QUOTE ]

You have no idea if the robbers are going to just take the money and run. Maybe they will take a hostage with them in an getaway car, maybe they will kill some people on the way out, maybe they will kill someone because they believe people are holding back money.

Unless it is your profession to kill people (ie military), I find it very hard to belive that you would feel great about it, regardless of the circumstance that it happened under.

ummmmmmm... i'm pretty certain most people in the military do not feel great about killing people, that's one of the reasons they come back all [censored] up

[/ QUOTE ]

Yea, rereading what I typed made is sound like I thought that people in the military get off on killing folks. I guess some might, but Im sure almost all dont. I guess I just ment that people who kill others for a living will have a much better handle on how to deal with it emotionally than you smoking some kid in the head in your living room. To be honest, I think if someone has no emotion in that situation, or is happy about it, is kinda sick.

I think people who are saying how you would lose so much sleep over this just haven't been in pressure situations enough.

I've been in awful brawls, seen people stabbed and lose parts, helped dying sick people with vomitting, but when it's in the moment and you need to do something about it, it becomes okay. It's a task that needs to be completed.

The things that have really screwed with my psyche were images seen when I was helpless. I'm sure if I'd been at the party and seen that go down, I'd still be freaked as hell, probably would be pissing myself nightly, but as the shooter, it's a different thing. He did what he had to, the adrenaline protects you.

True.

I Googled "home invasion Clearpark killed" and the first link appears to be the right one but I don't have adobe or whatever it requires. Could someone google that and either paste it here or PM it to me because I can't seem to find the actual story

NM - that wouldn't be it because that one was in April

Exactly, I mean if you knew they were going to just take the money and run the right thing to do is let them have it. But you never know... After watching shows like "The First 48" you see people rob someone for $50 and then kill em anyway.

Aah, America and its gun culture

Shooting was correct. Not brag. Becomes brag if guy used a couple of knives to subdue and maim robber. Guns for show, knives for a pro. Bowie and stilleto ftw.
