i think i picked up hockey the year before the rangers won it. was a fan of brett hull. saw him do a sports center commercial with a black eye, and for some reason, i thought "wow. this guy must get into lots of fights. he's a bad ass" i was like 16 (and a huge [still am] boxing fan). so he became the hockey player i rooted for. even thogh i later find out he doesn't fight. but just scores a ton of goals. once he retired, i stopped watching hockey. last i heard they wanted to take away fighting. good luck with that.
