Strasser,
Fair enough, plus I was exaggerating about the apology part, just trying to end the post with a bang. It's not so much that you're even incorrect in your assumptions, just that it is nonsensical to make accusations of that nature as they are far too abstract to ever really clarify and quantify. |

In a couple of months of mainly lurking in these (admittedly entertaining) boards, it seems like most of the threads with any kind of controversial topic at all are a feeding frenzy waiting to happen. It seems like everyone is waiting to identify some poster or post to get worked up about, and then the if some alpha shark (Strasser in this case) swims up and takes a chomp out of a big fish, then all the little sharks taste the blood and about a thousand posts of eating and mayhem follow.
Which is entertaining in its own way, but it doesn't change the fact that Sklansky is still a big fish and a lot of the folks straining to get a bite out of his dorsal fin are baby hammerhead sharks. And the reactions are totally disproportionate to any "offense" - maybe Sklansky didn't make a great post, but it was better than average. Certainly nothing to get this worked up about. |

I'm not judging him at all, it is a fact: Sklansky is a lazy genius. [/ QUOTE ] No such animal. |

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Can someone post cliff notes? [/ QUOTE ] David says a lot of big-name cash-game players are broke. Most of 2+2 says "duh." Strassa rips David for being a nit. People pile on. David says he may be a nit, but don't glorify the degenerate gamblers like they're some kind of Teddy Roosevelt. I'm sure others can do better. [/ QUOTE ] Actually I'd give it an A-. [/ QUOTE ] B- and only that high because of Strassa's post. The obviousness of your OP started it off at a C. The fact that so many people complained about the lack of names brought it down to a D+ and Strassa's OTT reply gave it legs all the way to a B-. TStone's post looked like it would contribute but died on the vine. The only thing left is for Admo to come in and jack it up to an A. [/ QUOTE ] DS was grading the cliff's notes, not the thread. |

[ QUOTE ]
I'd rather be XYZ random broke guy living/following/failing at a dream. [/ QUOTE ] Ah, to be young with a great future ahead and not to have to worry of such things..... BTW, no, you wouldn't. I doubt you've ever truly been broke, It sucks bad. Also, if you wanna be like these guys, why didn't you take some of that big $$$ you won and spend a lot of time in huge games? Any chance you are taking the "safe" way out? Considering you were on the cusp of poker stardom and seem to not be pressing toward it, your assertion rings hollow. |

Daliman,
You are thinking very obtuse if you can't get your head around the fact that I admire people who take big risks to achieve their goals yet I do not wish to take these huge risks myself. I'm not trying to suggest everyone takes huge risks chasing their dreams, I'm just saying I think its an admirable quality. |

[/ QUOTE ] I understand that completely, I just don't see how think chasing the dream and failing, thus being flat broke, to where you might even have your home foreclosed on and have a scrounge just to eat is better than living as DS does. As someone who has lived close to that for a # of years, I can tell you there's no chance you'd want that, especially with your past and future. I think you made your post in haste and came off far different than you actually feel, which I of course, have NEVER done.... |
