Great win today. Schilling looked fantastic, Papi and Manny doing there 2 out hitting...Cora hits a HR, holla! Clown Shoes Mo Pena strikes out 3 more times.....but all is good in Red Sox Nation!

Me: Another walk. Him: Wily Mo's up. Bet you $20 he strikes out. Me: It's sad that I won't take that bet. (Wily Mo works it to a 2-2 count.) Him: Right here. Curveball. He whiffs. (Wily Mo strikes out on a curveball.) Also, the Orioles pitchers look absolutely ridiculous. Who the hell thought that facial hair was a good idea?

[/ QUOTE ] last i heard, drew said he can play CF no prob. that was like, preseason though. some of the defensive metrics suggest that pena (quite unusually) is actually better in CF than he is in the corners. also, RF in fenway is pretty tough to play. now that doesn't really get into how CF is a much more important defensive position, so having a plus defender like drew there may be better even if pena is worse in RF, but it could be the reason for playing pena there. to me, he just looks brutally bad right now. i had a lot of hope for him last season but he just looks [censored] terrible.

drew can play center, just that crisp can play it better (at this time anyways). there is no way pena can play RF, which is why drew is playing while crisp rests.
people will always assume pena sucks in CF because he looks awkward and will fumble balls etc...that stuff is minor compared to the important issue, which is range....he apparently covers a lot of ground....still he is suited to not play the field at all obviously. anyways, give him 400 AB's and hill give you a .800ops...of course that wont matter to people because he strikes out a lot.
