Either CJ or Brady Quinn. The Cardinals already have Edgerrin James signed to a fat contract. There's no reason to draft an injury-prone, straight up running back in the top 5...unless you want another Ki-Jana Carter. |

Where have you read that the Lions have commited to Foster as a starting OT? Foster is a backup...the Lions are nuts if they think starting him is better than drafting Thomas.
Edge contract is essentially for 2 more years. Its been stated numerous times that Edge is not the type of back Wiz prefers...the only question is do they value Gaines more than Petersen because of Berry and Chiki being their starting 2 ends. Det will trade before they take CJ...and Quinn makes sense to me but there hasn't been much chatter about Det-Quinn. |

CDS, I'm pretty sure the Lions are aiming to trade down. I think that is what they WANT to do. I don't have a source, but just from general readings on the internet.
I expec they won't be able to trade down, and I do expect them to take Calvin Johnson. And I can't say I'd be upset. Their O-Line sucks, but they have had plenty of chances to address that in free agency, and never do. So whatever, let's get us another playmaker baby! |

[/ QUOTE ] The Lions traded Dre Bly for Foster to fix up their offensive line issues (Tatum Bell came along with that). Foster started on the Broncos and will start in Detroit as well. Drafting Joe Thomas on top of that is overkill. The Cardinals would be insane to use a top 5 selection to pick the best running back in the draft and use him in a backup role for two years. You don't pay $7 or $8 million a year (plus bonuses) for a running back to sit on the pine, especially when you already have James as your starter. There are far more pressing matters than running back (which is currently already dealt with) right now. If Joe Thomas doesn't drop to Arizona, they'll probably take Gaines Adams. Though if Joe Thomas drops past Cleveland, I'll be stunned. |

The Bly trade was more about trading Bly and getting Tatum Bell than it was about Foster. They could have signed much better linemen than what they traded for. The Lions should draft Quinn...but the smart money would be on them trading down several spots to one of the teams that desperatly want CJ--Bucs etc. Then they can take the guy they want--Joe Thomas. The Lions will suck this year because of Kitna and their crappy oline...drafting CJ won't help a ton though as long as Kitna isn't on his ass he'll have another option downfield...and drafting Quinn won't help for several years. They should def trade down...and by all accounts that is what they are desperate to do. Cards signed Edge to a 4 year contract with the first two years frontloaded. The Cards year in and year out are in the top 5 in terms of cap space. Edge played well last year all things considered but he is not a young man in running back years and this contract will be his last with AZ. In my view if Thomas isn't there the Cards should trade down...but if Petersen is there u have to consider the value over just drafting for need. If Petersen is there and so is Gaines...Gaines is obv the more rational pick given they could use the help on defense. But Petersen could give them a stellar young RB/WR/WR/QB combo for the next 5-6 years. So it will be very tempting for them..it also may lead to a great deal to trade down with another team that wants him. There have been countless cases where a team had a high paid veteran and drafted a high paid pick who ended up sitting splitting carries etc for one or two years until the veteran was cut/traded/etc. And the Bears have had Thomas Jones and Cedric Bensen for the past several years and it didn't bankrupt them. The biggest worry would be team chemistry and Edge throwing a fit not $$$. The gold mine for us would be if the first two picks are QB/QB...cuz then hopefully it would go RB/WR/ and Joe Thomas for the Cards |

yeahhhh, thanks for that. knew it was one of the two most overhyped recievers in the draft. [/ QUOTE ] Jarrett is going to be really good. You can take his 40 time. I'll take his size, hands, and body control. Some people have the Jets taking him at 25 and I wouldn't hate it. People drop every year because of bad workout times etc which have nothing to do with how they play the game. Its retarded. |

Lions will take Calvin Johnson if they don't trade down. Ship it. I'm not using sarcasm. [/ QUOTE ] I guess Cleveland can pass, but Oakland should take him. If he's not taken at #1 Detroit should take him. I'm not being sarcastic either. Scouts are calling him the best prospect since Elway. |
