As much as I despise O'Neal I'd learn to like him in green. He'd be a good fit and provide some oh so necessary defense in the lane. He just gets paid wayyyyy too much for 60 games a season.

Also, I'd only accept it if Jermaine changed his number. When Walker came back and got #8 back from Al, I was OK with that. Al was still a rookie and Walker, for better or worse, is a big deal to the Celtics. Now Big Al is the real deal. No bending over for the glass man.

Well, Celtics fans, would you do it? Trade Big Al,Gerald Green, the 5th pick and Ratcliffs expiring contract for Kevin Garnett?

Of course it would be nice in the short term to have a more competitive team and make the playoffs, but is it worth it. I don't think it is. If KG was 3 years younger, yes but at 31, in a few years we will find ourselves right back where we are now except probably worse as we are minus all the youth we traded away for this short term fix.

The Celts are in a tough spot, because they have sucked so long it's hard to ask the fans to be patient and if they do they aren't going to sell any tickets. But I would not make this deal.

Absolutely not. I read a report on CelticsBlog (though the source was HoopsWorld.. i always forget if it's them or hoopshype who often cite bad rumors) that McHale is also trying to Jaric on us.

Obviously the deal includes too many pieces from the Cs. We're the top bidder without including Al, Green, AND #5. If we're giving up Al (*tears up a bit*), that's all we need to offer. No other bidder comes close.

Simmons hates the KG deal. And since I have no mind of my own, I listen to whatever Simmons says about the Celtics.

Well good news, KG hates the Celtics, so it probably won't happen.

" "The Boston trade isn't happening," Miller [KG's agent] told Sheridan on Thursday. "If a trade were to happen, that's not a destination that we're interested in pursuing." "

I'm listening to Bucher on Simmons' podcast, and he figured KG wouldn't want to come to Boston, to which Simmons joked, "why not? It's really cold with lots of white people." But isn't 'Sota the same way? Isn't Pierce the kind of help KG wants?

Kobe reportedly doesn't want to go to Boston either. I read the teams he would want to go to are Chicago, Phoenix, and Dallas.

the Celtics sold a ton of tickets last year, considering how bad they were.

this trade would have sucked.

I think if you look objectively at the job Ainge has done you would have to say he has drafted well and traded poorly. So that's probably how he should try to build this team, through the draft which is apparently his strength.
