I disagree with your statement about the luster of the Michigan/Ohio State game. I thinks it's even more important now since it is more likely there will be a clear cut contender to get in ahead of the loser. The best hope for them to have a rematch was for all the other teams to split votes.

It's the game of the year around here 80%+ of the time (occasionally, something like USC/ND last year creeps in). There is more luster this year than any year I can recall in my lifetime.

I'm not sure what WSU was doing in the secondary, but they sure weren't covering anybody. Offensively, WSU couldn't do anything. Brink didn't look good, and their running game/o-line looked terrible as well. It was complete domination by ASU on both sides of the ball.
