Heck we got it in Canada. Flyers are the one team that look like they do not belong in the playoffs so far. [/ QUOTE ] The best part of this game was when TSN switched to the NYR/Devils game, because this one sucked so bad. |

I was at the agme last night and it was awesome.
Esche was falling apart and the whole crowd started a U-S-A chant during the first, then when one of the scuffles the Philly sucks started up and it was loud and proud Gauthier is a piece of [censored] and deserves what ever suspension he gets. Hatcher looked like a turnstyle out there and I believe he was on the ice for 6 of the Sabres goals. Even with Permeau allegedly going to get cleared to play, whatever. They may get an emotional boost is game 3 but they are so out matched and outclassed its not even funny. They literally looked like a pee-wee team out there last night, from their gameplay to their antics in the second. |

But yeah, that's really funny because Esche is not a very good goalie and Miller should have made the team. |

[/ QUOTE ] Yeah I still don't understand USA Hockey. Miller is better then the three clowns that they took to Italy. Also, even though I said this month's ago...I'm going to say it again. WHY THE [censored] WAS HATCHER ON THE TEAM???? |

You're all correct about Miller - his 10 games in November proved he was a good goalie. Forget about DiPietro leading the Islanders to the playoffs twice, and Esche putting the Flyers within one game of reaching the Cup Finals - Ryan Miller was *obviously* better than all three goalies. The real questionable selection was Grahame, but even if they brought Miller he would have had the same role as Grahame.
Hatcher, OTOH, was a selection based on name only and he was terrible. Still, the US wasn't winning a damn thing with or without Hatcher. |

Please. You know that DiPietro, Eshche and Grahame are worse then Miller. Yeah he missed some time early and that obviously effected his standing with USA Hockey, but come on he should have been given a roster spot over at Grahame AND Esche (maybe not DiSucko).
Miller is the only US goalie who would have given that team a chance to reach the medal round. |

We had this debate when it happened. I have no idea where this 'Ryan Miller is a great goalie' notion came from. Before this season he had exactly 18 NHL games, a GAA around 3 and a sub .900 save percentage. He had no NHL playoff experience. He had a good start to the season, and then he was hurt when the final selections were made. You cannot take a guy because he had a good half of a year, and if you do, it's to be the third goalie who probably won't play regardless. I think he should've been in there over Grahame, but not Esche - why is Esche getting no credit for taking a beat up Flyer club to the ECF and almost to the Stanley Cup Finals? This was a team with a third defense pairing of Kapanen and Timander at times in the playoffs. 3 of their starting D are no longer in the NHL.
DiPietro is going to be an excellent NHL goalie. To have a .900 SV% with that awful Islanders defense is pretty remarkable, and he is still only 24 years old. I think in 2008, Dipietro is still the starter. And it didn't matter anyway since no one on the US but Gomez and Gionta and Rolston had any offense. |

You're just bitter that the Isles knocked the rangers out of a chance to win the division and your season will be done in two more games. Di Pietro is actually a good goalie, Isles D was terrible this year. I don't even know if you watched any of the Olympics but Di Pietro was actually pretty solid and made some excellent stops. I would say Miller and DiPietro are about on the same level. Maybe Miller is slightly better. |

Ok ok ok. Di Pietro isn't a bad goalie (it's way to easy to ruffle peoples feathers on this board ). I would have much rathered seen USA Hockey put together a team that was much younger. This was obviously going to be an olympic year that team USA had no business attempting to compete in.
Team USA should have put together a team of mostly younger players (including Ryan Miller) to get them valuable olympic hockey experience for 2010. Oh and I'll never be bitter or jealous of the Islanders. |
