Yea, I know it's old-school, but isn't it generally accepted that post 3-pointers >>>>> pre 3-pointers? [/ QUOTE ] When three-point shots have a 3:2 value compared to normal shots, yes, but 2:1 overdoes it. In winter there's a 4x4 half court intramural league with scoring by 1's and 2's, and it's dominated by shooters; aka, it's weak. |

Playing no "and 1s" is ridiculous and i've never heard of that... Why do you play that way? [/ QUOTE ] because its the right way. there are no refs and there shouldn't be. you either make the basket or not. you think you got fouled? call it and you get another chance. get fouled and make the shot? count the basket. possesion over. you've made your point. now play some D. |

1) Get a fat black man with a microphone to run around the court screaming OH BABY. 2) Figure out wicked cool names for each of the players. 3) [censored] defense. [/ QUOTE ] Clearly what Naismith had in mind, and what fun we can have after the show! |

[/ QUOTE ] wtf? because if you don't then dudes can call fouls every possession with no downside. in the games i play if you lose you may have to wait 2 hrs to get back on the court. if its 11-11 one team can call fouls on every shot until they win. |

where I play it's +divide into eams +to 10 by ones +if there's 12 people sub every 4 baskets regardless of who makes (e.g. 4-0 2-2 or 3-1 and then other multiples of 4) +offense calls the fouls +no arguing fouls +win the first game = stay. but two games and you sit, unless the team waiting lacks six people - then shoot free throws to see who stays on the new team; At another place I've also played to 14 with 2s and threes; no subs; defense calls the fouls. at a third place you shoot free throws to see who plays. e.g. no such thing as standard rules. there are also not standard rules for 21 (aka hustle). It helps if you call screens. no one can agree on whether you're supposed to switch on the screen role or stay on your guy. [/ QUOTE ] die. |

play to 11 win by 2 or 15 straight
4s or 5s are full court, anything less is half unless we feel like running a bunch. Commonly call your own fouls though if we obviously hit someone you will hear defense call the foul. If someone starts being a puss and calling fouls that aren't really fouls they recieve hard fouls. This normally means being put on the ground any time they touch the ball and frequently recieving elbow checks. No and 1, just get the possesion back. Check it up top on out of bounds and [censored] If there is a good three point line we plays 2s, normally all ones though |

I guess if you are playing to 11s and whats not counting 3s is ok, basically because each halfcourt at my university has atleast 12 or 15 people playing I think the quick rotation has come into play and so counting 3s as 2s would make it too quick, also some chinese dudes are [censored] sick at nailing 3s and the game would be borrying as ass if they just nailed 3 quick 3s and game over.
The fouls thing really pisses me off because when the game is at 4 all (don't have to win by 2 here) the fouls are very heavy in the paint. This place is great for getting pick up games but as I said 15 courts at my university but everywhere there is courts and always people playing, much better than australia where it was very difficult to find a game anywhere ever. Also from the skill around in Chinese basketball and the absolute passion and popularity of it I think China will have a very very strong team in the next 5-10years. Currently they have one player who is 220cm only 17 already with great great skills playing in their national league and I fully expect him to be in the NBA draft in the next few years as a big pick. |
