Default Re: Interested in starting a keeper basketball league

i'm in if we do this league by the same rules as the other one, as I had to take over a team in Clark's league and I'd be interested in being involved with one from the beginning. The constitution Clark just posted is pretty much golden.

Entry fee: advise using the entry fee rules from other league including luxury tax

Head to Head

16 teams

one year should be fine but if you wanted to do two years you could just hold something like 1st year fee + $50 deposit towards next season or something like that.

Also, its worth noting, that the league done this way is as close to a full year fantasy league as you can get. So you'd want to make sure you had a ridiculously committed commissioner, and owners who are very committed as well.

I had something a little simpler in mind, but I would be up for doing a Clarkmeister-style league. If we do that type of league though, I would like someone else to be commissioner. I have plenty of time this year, but will probably be starting law school next year and may not have enough free time to be a super-dedicated commissioner that such a league requires.

I might have missed this in the constitution, but how do you determine player salaries for the initial league draft?

I'm perfectly amenable to a Clarkmeister style league, though I'm still less than sold on a Head-Head style league for anything but football.

its not in the constitution, but clark has a breakdown somewhere of how the original salaries were determined.

Regular season works out well since the sample size is decent at 82 games.

Playoffs are a bit of a crapshoot, but that's ok because the skill level in building a team is vastly higher than anything I've ever seen. Roto would frankly make it way too hard for the bad owners to ever have a chance. Even with the playoff crapshoot, it's got the highest long-term skill:luck ratio of any league I've been a part of.

BTW, if that isn't the kind of league everyone is interested in, that's obviously cool. I don't think either Matt or I are trying to hijack the idea and force this setup, and I realize it may come across that way.

agreed, I'm sure you guys would still get plenty of interest in a standard keeper league, so it all depends on what you all want.
