el d,

employee of the month, are you talking about the one with jessica simpson or matt dillon?

the one with jessica looks pretty dumb, but the one with matt dillon was awesome.

I've seen part of the new Bad News Bears and it just depresses me because it is so bad.

The original is an absolutely wonderful flic. This remake is an embarassment.

I NEED A THREAD TO EXPRESS MY DISTASTE.

IF LADY IN THE WATER ISN'T THE WORST MOVIE EVER MADE, I CHALLENGE YOU TO FIND ME ONE WORSE.

JESUS CHRIST THAT MOVIE TILTED ME, I ACTUALLY DID GET A FEW LAUGHS AT IT- BUT BELIEVE ME, I WAS LAUGHING AT IT, NOT WITH IT.

TOP 5 WORST MOVIES OF ALL TIME:
1. ALEXANDER
2. LADY IN THE WATER
3. LOST IN TRANSLATION
4. HITCHHIKERS GUIDE TO THE GALAXY
5. DUDE WHERE'S MY CAR

All,

As usual, managed to add some to the DVR but not really watch much. I did manage to catch a couple of random cable movies in the last two weeks, though.

Idiocracy: The blurb was "a dullard awakens 1000 years in the future to find he is the smartest person alive" and it starred Luke Wilson. How could I not watch it? Well, I watched about 10 minutes and thought it was idiotic. Then some friends were over and someone mentioned that it was directed by Mike Judge. That made me give it another chance. It was pretty idiotically bad, but also sorta entertaining in a really stupid Beavis and Butthead way. Not recommended, but not absolutely horrible either.

Goal! The Dream Begins: Blurb was something like "Mexican cook gets a chance at his dream of playing professional soccer." OK, well, how can I pass that up? This was super cliched, but whatever, it was exactly what I expected and hoped for. Guy chasing his dream, some roadblocks come up that he overcomes, some bad guys show heart when they see how much this kid deserves it, he gets to address some of his personal/family issues through the challenges of sports, etc. This was far more entertaining than Invincible, but no Rudy or anything. Not GOOD, but I recommend it to generic sports underdog movie fans.

New ones added to DVR:

Lady in the Water - Whatever, I watch all of his movies. I expect there to be a twist.

World Trade Center - Nick Cage has lots of movies on cable.

Hollywoodland - Adrien Brody movie, I remember previews looking maybe OK.

Inside Deep Throat - documentary

Army of Darkness - this is one of those movies I have somehow never seen.

WTC is ok but nothing near United 93.
LITW- haven't heard anyone that liked it but you probably already know that.
Hollywoodland- OK but I pretty much knew it all from watching Unsolved Mysteries.
The Illusionist- watch it, very enjoyable.

Inside Deep Throat was decent. A little boring in parts but it was interesting to hear just how radically our understanding of sexuality has changed in the past 30 years.

Idiocracy was incredibly idiotic and I kept trying to turn it off but I couldn't. That's not to say it was good, I suppose it was entertaining.

I watched The Illusionist and The Prestige on the same day, and they're similar, so I keep blending them in my head.

They were both good. The Illusionist was a little bit more predictable (like standard formulaic), but was more fun to watch. The both kept me interested though.

I haven't seen Employee of the Month but I'm pretty sure it's one of those movies that you know how you're gonna feel about it after watching the previews.

My good friend had to write a review about it for a local paper and was really upset about it. He didn't like it.

It's inexplicable that I've only seen one of these movies, but alas...

Akeelah and the Bee sucked. It reminded me of the Full House episode where Kareem was guesting and Jesse found his "sweet spot" on the basketball court.

The Bridge is good.

I hated the Illusionist, but most people seemed to like it.

The Prestige is hot. Solid movie on its own, but the fact that it fooled 99% of people who watched it makes it awesome.
