This might be a really stupid question, but did you buy osx to do this?

[/ QUOTE ]

OSX is not for sale. Apple will not license OSX for use on PCs.

[/ QUOTE ]

You can buy it right here http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/We...p;nplm=MA453Z/A

[/ QUOTE ]

That's the PowerPC version, not x86.

Then how do Mac users upgrade if they can't buy a retail box?

Christ I still hate the mac interface. I was playing around with my father-in-law's macbook that I picked up from the shop for him, and I couldn't even figure out how to cut and paste. Is it SO HARD to make ctrl+c and ctrl+v work LIKE THE REST OF THE FRIGGING WORLD mmmk?

Having said that, I probably need to learn how to use a mac someday. Blech. I should probably play with this.

Good thread, btw.

I do hate some of the quirks of Macs and refuse to switch since I am somewhat of a Windows Poweruser. I hate not having the right click, but I feel I could get used to Mac's.

FRI - CTRL+C is not cut on Windows PC's either.

To get a right click all you have to do is use a mouse with more than one button. I'm using a bluetooth belkin with my macs and right click all the time, sometimes just for fun.

I'm not saying I did, I'm not saying I didn't.... but you know what I'm saying.

BTW, if any of you are going to follow an install guide for your specific laptop, make sure you get the ISO that the guide was written with . It makes a very big difference....
