Thanks for the links.
[ QUOTE ] There are plenty of good sites to check out online but it depends what you are looking for. Do you need nice clothes for work? Are you in college? What's your style? What's your budget? You could start with checking out the links in Kjell's post and if you are American, I can say with some confidence that you should drop a size or two and please stay away from oversized clothes. [/ QUOTE ] I'm in college. Tall, skinny, 19 year old. I live in the Netherlands. Plenty of budget I guess, since I make money playing poker. I don't really have a 'style', not yet anyways. I'm not looking to be the center of attention with my clothes. I'd prefer a more 'laid back' style, and know that whatever I'm wearing looks good on me. Now I don't really have a strong opinion when it comes to fashion, and rely on other people (sister/mom/etc.) to tell me what I should wear, which sucks. |

I really like the suits and how they fit so well on Sartorialist. How do you find a tailor to do that so well?
![]() The contemporary male stuff on there is stuff I'd never go near, but the women's mostly looks really good.

[/ QUOTE ] Mucho money and Savile Row is the best way I guess. Others buy suits that fit good enough and do the small adjustments at a local tailor (that hopefully know what he's doing). Some are just lucky and are the same size as the suit was made for. (I have two rather cheap suits from the same brand that fit so well (slim fit suits) that they look like they were tailored for me) |

[ QUOTE ]
I got a Hugo Boss shirt for $100 that looked just like this but instead of looking baller it just looked goofy as hell on me, mainly because I have to wear an undershirt since I have no tan. I think expensive T shirts (good material, design, usually like $30) and jeans are the way to go if you are trying to look decent but not overdressed. [/ QUOTE ] Ok, first of all you need to get rid of that undershirt! You should hardly ever use an undershirt. I never do it. If you don't have a tan, go get one. If that's not possible where you live, get it anyway (hint: solarium, fake-tan). To get a little taned can make wonders for your looks. The shirt in the picture is from a famous designer. It's not a suite shirt and it's supposed to look good without a blazer or anything like that. There are buttons on the back of both sleeves that you can't see in the picture, the collar is white and there are plenty of other details that makes this shirt awesome. You can't go to a store and expect any short sleeve shirt to fit like this one does. Brand, model, fit... it all depends. It's all about what label their from, how they are cut, how they are supposed to be worn. DonkBluffer, I know it's not easy to dress nice if you really have no clue and no real opinion but don't make it complicated. Start out with a couple of nice pair of jeans and some cool t-shirts and go from there. There are plenty of good online stores as well if you don't know where to go for this kind of stuff. |

I don't think anyone gets as lucky as the dude in the picture above...
There's no tailor that can do magic on a poorly-fitting suit; you'll have to spend enough money that you can find a suit that fits well in the first place, then take it to a skilled tailor that can make just minor adjustments. You can look tailors up on Citysearch. |

[/ QUOTE ] I feel your pain at 6', 145, and a 6'4" wingspan. I find that a good pair of jeans, tshirts, blazers, and long sleeve button down shirts for me. I have a ton of tshirts, including a good bit from threadless. When going out I'll usually wear the jeans, very rarely shorts, with a button down shirt. If I do happen to wear shorts out to a bar or something, then I always combine it with a long sleeve shirt. I think wearing a tshirt and shorts looks really goofy on me unless I'm doing something very casual. I also think short sleeve button downs look horrible on my body type |

OP:
when it comes to short sleeve button up shirts, alot depends on your body. If your in shape (nice arms) you should be wearing semi tight shirts w something like faded jeans. I would recommend Hugo Boss or Theory short sleeve shirts; linen would be best for summer (tried finding pics of shirts I was talking about but couldn't). You cant go wrong with polos either: Zegna polo

In Atlanta people wearing shorts in bars are either FRAT-n hard, have no style, or don't care that they'd look better in long pants (read not single).
