I do have the makings of one where I lose like 8.6k (the remainder of my live roll). But i wasn't too happy about it, as it came a day after my biggest losing day ever online, so I never wrote it up. I played like a champion that day though!

Plus live play... nah i'm not gonna worry about the taxes on that, its straight CASSSSHHHHHH

36k, not including canuck tax...that is just from poker because my working income is taxed in Canada

[/ QUOTE ]
please explain this, you're canadian so i thought you only had to tax it if it was your main source of income? and i thought your roll was only 30k, so you obviously got your ass kicked by taxes?

I'm a dual citizen (it's complicated).

US poker winnings last year get taxed in the states.
US donations/IRA get deducted in the States.
CDN income gets reported and deducted in the states.

CDN income gets taxed in Canada.
CDN donations/RRSP/metro passes/etc gets deducted in Canada.

As for my roll, I have a pretty serious nest egg in investments/the bank that I don't include in my poker roll (I stored away like 90%+ of my poker income last year because I was working and self-sufficient and only playing poker part-time). I only cashed out 3-4k from my roll to pay for my taxes and I still have tons saved up in my investments/cd/savings accounts. I plan on using the majority of it to go back to school/buy a house though, so I don't count my savings/investments in my roll.

Currently I work full-time and save 20% of my working income so 100% of my poker winnings are going into savings.

Part-time poker/being a nit ftw.
