As a reward, he gets sat after playing 4 innings.
"No, Mr. Bonds, please... take a rest." |

Quick bump: is anyone up watching the Cards/Giants game right now? Top of 12th, Cards have guys on first and third, two outs, and game cast just said Pujols was caught stealing home. wtf?

[/ QUOTE ] Just showed it on sportscenter, and yeah, he took off towards home, stopped 2/3rds of the way there, then tried to slide in under the tag. Weird. |

That had to be a botched double steal. Only possible explanation.

That had to be a botched double steal. Only possible explanation. [/ QUOTE ] Yeah, that's what the SC anchor duder said hesitantly. From the clip, though, the catcher pretty clearly tries to signal a pitch out while the pitcher is in the middle of his motion. The pitch is high an outside, so it works, but sometime during the delivery/catch, the Cards' batter also seems to motion Pujols back to third. The problem is that Pujols is maybe 10-15 feet from the plate. Even so, Pujols stops, then starts again, at which time its an easy tag. If you're a runner, it seems like once you're that close there is zero chance of stopping and then reaching any base safely, short of an error. I have to wonder if it was just instinct or surprise that made Pujols stop, or if he honestly misjudged a ball so badly he thought he could make it ~80 feet back to third. |

Does a-rod have a shot at this record? I think he'd need 35/year for the next like 8 years. He's 31 now.

Forget about the roids.
From what I've read, seen and heard from him over the years, I think Bonds is pretty much the biggest ass hole I've ever seen in sports who isn't a criminal like OJ or Rae Carruth. So F Bonds and his bloated beachball sized head. I wish pitchers would start drilling him in the back instead of letting him hit HRs, and I wish Hank Aaron would hire someone to kneecap him Tonya Harding-style. |
