Kane, I am supporting a family, have one child (and expect a couple more), and am helping take care of a sick relative. I also donated 2 million dollars to a research foundation of a disease that has afflicted the aforementioned sick relative. I also have a 2 million dollar house (and accompanying mortgage). 6 million is not as much as it might seem.

I did win the PP million and made a couple of WPT final tables in 5K events, but that has amounted to less than 700K. The bulk of my 6 million has come from cash games. [/ QUOTE ] In this case, I think that you should probably consider playing poker fulltime. |

thanks for the vote of confidence ggbman; I of course try to adjust to the better players that try to adjust to me, and believe that I do fairly well against them as well. Of course, there is no substitute for the fishies! (as you clearly know yourself!)

Kane, do you have any thoughts about the legality issue?

Thanks Neo! In particular, your comments about legislation taking at least 2 years to pass is very helpful!

I've played a very good amount with Samoleuos over the last month or two. He is obviously a significant winner in these games, although his stlye of play is what leads KKF to the incoorect conclusion that his game has tons of holes. He is very good at extracting money from the poorer players, while his style of play will not be that effective against the top regs. (By this i simply mean they won't fall victim to overcompensating as much against him) But the money he makes off the weaker players makes him a very significant winner in these games. [/ QUOTE ] KKF was talking about July. |

I've had the same type of decsions about becoming a pro or not for the past 2-3 years. I chose to stick with the job and am gald for it because poker, while interesting, isn't something I love doing day in day out. It's a fun hobby that nets me a lot of money on the side, but I enjoy playing for less than 10 hours / week. Of course, I also have a sweet job that has tons of perks and pays well...

samoleus,
I commend you on your honesty and it was a nice post here. But it is also funny somewhat, and some posters here would be more enlightened if you outed yourself and gave your party screen name before changing it to samoleus. FWIW, I know cuz you've been on my buddy list for a long time. KKF gave you good advice about keeping your job, and was correct that your play def improved, but not to the point where it needs to be. Fancy Play Syndrome (FPS) is your enemy. |
