Online poker is going to be so much bigger; you ain't seen nothing yet!

As soon as this planet is running out of oil; that will be the end of online poker!

[/ QUOTE ]

I can't tell if you're serious, but with no oil, wouldn't there be more online poker? We're all stuck at home, you can't ride a Schwinn to Nevada.

[/ QUOTE ]

When there's almost no oil anymore; that's when the Oil-Wars will begin.
You won't be sitting behind your computer; you'll be driving in an army-jeep, getting your head blown off by some missile.
Global-economy will collapse, billions of people will starve...
But who cares, since this will only happen 25 years from now!

i didn't move to nevada for poker, but all of a sudden i'm really glad i moved to vegas last month. and i can ride my bike to the casinos, only about two miles from here... just can't play as many tables at a time over there, and at the limits i'm bankrolled to play right now, the fees are pretty crappy for tourneys...30+3/50+5 online vs 25+10/50+15 in the casinos...granted, i haven't shopped the whole strip looking...and i'm still working my way up the learning curve so as to stand a chance against the live sharks. dunno about the rakes out here for ring games either - actually haven't been to the casinos hardly at all since i've been here. been looking at the strip out the window while playing online. my first trip to the strip after moving here i was looking at more than half the blackjack tables in most of the casinos now paying 6:5 - that was disheartening, too. online is definitely the best value from what i've seen, unless i'm missing something...

i hope this whole situation leads to the development of a trusted, easy to use, anonymous internet banking/money system. like paypal but with no customer account information, no accounting freezing, no giving up records, ...
i think if something like this was developed and the integrity vouched for by a couple of the major pokersites, it would catch on very fast.

My main concern is that the casual players simply won't be around anymore if it's too difficult for them to deposit.

Remember that every dime you take out of online poker once had to be put in by someone else. If other peoples' deposits slow down dramatically, so will the amount of money coming out. The less-than-spectacular players will be washed ashore.

[/ QUOTE ]

QFT. The sum total profit everyone makes playing poker equals the total amount deposited minus rake. Rake isn't going anywhere, so every dollar less that gets deposited is a dollar out of somebody's bottom line.
