Ridiculous. Why waste your time solving trivial puzzles that a simple computer program can complete in less than a second?

A Sudoku solver in Prolog is <30 lines long, takes less than 10 minutes to write and solves a Sudoku puzzle in about the time it takes to blink.

WTF is with the craze?

3 minutes 42 seconds. Not difficult at all. Trivial, in fact. Not even a hidden triple necessary to solve it, and (I think) only one hidden double.

Difficult would be one requiring an X-Wing, a Swordfish, or multi-coloring to solve. At least through a hidden quad in to call it difficult.... <sigh>

hehe i'm in agreement. my research is in tomography, which is basically trying to fill in the values of a matrix of numbers, so when I go home for vacation and see my family all doing the same thing in their leisure time, it makes me choke.

Edit/MH: Is this the content of a Private Message I sent you? I don't remember your asking me if you could post it.

I hope anyone else that may write a Private Message to you can now see that it may not remain private.

Do you understand what a cross-post is?

Did you see this post in Forum Suggestions?

Damn, that interface sucks. Much easier to do it on paper.

I actually like the interface for the most part, I just dislike only being able to enter three numbers per block.

I got it in 11 minutes. But if you would be kind enough to explain all these sudoku terms that you are talking about, I might just get faster and beat my wife. Right now, she is cleaning my clock on these things.

Im curious to see the terms too. I have obviously figured out a lot in teaching myself how to do them, but I wonder if i have figured out the terms you used.

Mike,

Normally I would respond with a private response, but with respect to what you have said here, I would like to make this public.

I would sincerely like to apologize you if I have offended you. I admit to being ignorant of " <font color="orange">this post </font>" and am about to go read it right now.

Quite honestly, I made my post without thinking things through. It struck me as odd, and somewhat unfair that you made a post that you yourself labeled as O/T a couple weeks after locking mine (which was labeled as O/T as well). My post was important to me, as I'm sure yours was to you.

That being said, I did not take a moment to think about the best way to voice my displeasure with this, and all I can say is that I made a mistake for which I would like to apologize. I certainly did not consider that I was violating a trust you had placed in me, when you sent me a PM, and that to me is far more serious than any quibble I may have about our O/T posts. I apologize for this and would just like to say that I have no intention of allowing something like that to happen again.

Edit/MH: Thank you for the apology. Accepted.

Although, with respect, I don't think your cross-post was labelled Off Topic, or, as I stated in my PM, I would have locked it, not deleted it.
