I met Ben Affleck playing in the Aruba WPT. He was nice and agreed to take a picture. Then I watched him sit down in a 25-50 NL cash game and live straddle every hand for $200.

Jimmie Walker.
Comedy club. Stuck around afterward and got a picture. I didn't actually meet Chris Rock. But before he got big, he was playing at another comedy club. We were sitting near the front and I was laughing so hard I nearly pissed myself. I had to get up during his act to go to the bathroom. He hit on my wife while I was gone. He also went after the couple we were with, black guy and white girl. |

When I was in 3rd grade, my best friend was one of the kids on "The Baseball Bunch" tv show. Hanging out with him I got to meet the World Famous Chicken, Johnny Bench, Pete Rose, and Mike Schmidt.
When I was in college at Northern Arizona University I was leaving the rec center and a voice asked me if I was going to the South campus and if he could have a ride, I turned around and it was Charles Barkley. I said yeah, and he hopped into the back of my truck and I cruised around NAU with Charles Barkley kickin' it in the back. I coached Chris Duncan of the St. Louis Cardinals when he was in high school. |

I met former Senator from NY, Al D'Amato. He was in the building I work at for some reason - I was going downstairs to get some coffee - he was in the elevator and held it open for me (he was unaccompanied)....small-talk conversation for 4 floors. never would have voted for him - but he was nice enough. [/ QUOTE ] I met him too, I worked for a small firm where he had an office. Was your building on Long Island? I went to a Spinal Tap concert at Carnegie Hall in 2001. Jamie Lee Curtis was a row away. Fisher Stevens was there too and after the show I called out to him "Fisher! 'Key West'!" It was a one-season show he did in 1992...Northern Exposure in Key West. The show didn't last, but I heard that he really liked doing it. He smiled and nodded and I gave the devil sign (closed fist, index finger and pinky out) and he gave it back. Very touching. |

manute bol at the '89 little league world series. we shared a hotdog, and he signed my baseball glove. [/ QUOTE ] Manute used to play basketball at my gym. I never talked to him, but I played 5 on 5 against him (all he would do was shoot 3s). The pharmacy I used to work at used to dispense drugs to the Washington Bullets. So I would see their names in the envelopes behind the counter. But the only one I met was Bernard King, the day after he scored 50+ points. The conversation was as follows: Me: "Good game last night" Bernard King: "Thanks" I ate in the same restaurant as then Vice-President George H.W. Bush. (A fairly dumpy Chinese restaurant in Washington D.C.). I got his autograph. |

Took a shot of Tequila once with Robert Horry at the Ivory Husk in Tuscaloosa. Had a drink\spoke with Melissa Stark at a bar after a MNF game. She was very pleasant and surprisingly enough not many people recognized her. I once was walking out of a grocery store and the tall bearded guy walked by me. I turned around to get a 2nd look and the person behind me thought I was looking at him. I took a few more steps and it dawned on me that the tall bearded guy was Mike Gminski. So, I turned back around and told the guy behing me that Mike Gminski just walked by. The man grinned and I realized that he was George Seifert. [/ QUOTE ] Did anyone else have to look up who the hell Mike Gminski is? |

I have met most of the famous people you read bout playing poker and some you haven't read about, but working in gaming I can't mention exactly who I have met. My father played HS football against and college football with Howard "Hopalong" Cassady and for years his tickets at Ohio State were next to Hopalong and I went to a few games and met him.

Alex Trebek. I was on Jeopardy in 1997 (one-day champ). You know how the contestants and Alex chat amongst themselves during the closing credits? He did actually talk with us, rather than telling us, "Just look like you're talking for the cameras." On the first day, during this segment he sympathized with one of the losers, saying, "I know how you feel, you know, you're trying to get some points, but you're like, 'S---, I just can't make any headway.'" Hearing the usually G-rated Alex Trebek drop any curse has to take a close second behind the actual win as highlights of the trip go.

Was in Rome, Italy this past October... While waiting for a friend in the lobby of my hotel... Martin Scorsese gets off the elevator and starts chatting with me!!... (I almost had a heart attack - I dabble in independent filmmaking!) Was the week of the International Film Fest and he offered me a ticket to his private screening of 'The Departed' showing the next day. Too bad I was heading back to the states that night
Earlier that day, Sean Connery smiled and waved to me in the lobby too! [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] |
