- Do you have any experience with poker fish being sharks on the golf course, and vice-versa?

Also OP, did you read the Rick Reilly chapter in "Who's Your Caddy" that talked about the exploits of Dewey Tomko et al? Do you do any of that crazy sht they do like put Vaseline on the cart to wipe on your clubs?

[/ QUOTE ]

i have, but dont recommend it unless you state upfront its ok for everyone. i like it when an opponent wants to becuase i can usually get more out of the bargain by making them give strokes or take their strokes on the holes i want.

This is a very crappy start to what could be an interesting thread. OP, go back and post some of your qualifications for starting a thread like this. Did you win $20 off your dad playing golf or something?

Perhaps a story to get discussion started would be in order.

learn your history boy. ive payed my dues on this site. my qualifications are beyond reproach. next .

Your past changes nothing, I know you've paid your dues. This is a crappy way to start a thread, period.

I know, long-time poster, HSNL poster, etc. Doesn't make the OP any better. I'm not questioning your qualifications, I'm questioning the fact that you started a thread like this without including them.

-$100 a hole (before presses) is generally the minimum ill get up for.

-most won in a round $5400, it was $800/hole skins by the 14th , most ive lost on 1 hole $3800

-everyone always pays but i let a guy carry a 13k debt for over a year once.

the thing you have to realize about golf is even though the bets seem huge there is alot of "cancelling out". sometimes the biggest matches ive played end up w/ no money changing hands.

how do you determine ahead of time that you will have a profitable hustle on the golf course?

In any case, it's a good topic:

Craziest golf-related prop bet you've participated in?

Wow dude. You're right. A discussion sure has helped you verbalize your knowledge on the subject. Thanks for sharing.

despite your tone i will elaborate. most of the match is played before a club is ever picked up. if you can negotiate a good deal you win before you play, regardless of the actual outcome. its like getting a guy to go all in on the flop w/ AA v. your set, regardless of the outcome you win. examples of negotiating a good deal would be:

getting your opponent to take his strokes on the 1st holes in a skins game (w/ presses)by pretending to give him more strokes than you wanted to.

as far as being good at golf. i have a huslers game, i.e i chip and put extremely well. what this does is make me look lucky. i can bomb a 300 drive but i wouldnt. that is equated w/ GOOD. getting up and down at precise moments or never 3 putting will fly under the radar.

sometimes its hard. like when you are playing someone cold on a one time hit and want to maximize your earn. but there are certain "norms" in golf. and you go off those and your instincts once play starts. also you can tell when your in w/ scared money and then you're sure you have controll. example: there is no way a guy betting 500 a hand at bj who wants to play 200 a hole at golf is hustling you or confident in his game.

if you are being invited to a game it is easier because:

a: you dont need to skin the sheep
b: the host comments about the game will give you an idea what you're up against

People who have been paying attention and aren't dumb know this thread is going to be good precisely because of the OP.
