[ QUOTE ]
They've won two championships, been competitive for at least a couple of other years, and have amassed tons of young talent throughout the years. That's much better than most teams can say in the last 13 years. [/ QUOTE ] and they have absolutely no fans at all, its so pathetic. Miami doesn't deserve to have any sports teams really. |

In defense of the fans there, I went down for a Marlins game once and can only say that the stadium sucks balls, parking is terrible, it's in a lousy part of town, and every game is a gamble as to whether or not you'll be waiting on an hour long rain delay.

They "have no fans" for a number of reasons, partly because of 1998, partly because an open air stadium in Florida sucks, and partly because so many people down there already have other teams.

[ QUOTE ]
Too bad Loria is still alive. This team wins 20 more games than expected, so of course it's time to fire the man responsible. This douche shouldnt be allowed near a professional baseball team. He's already ruined one and is on the verge of destroying another. [/ QUOTE ] Is Joe Girardi your dad or something? I don't think you could be more wrong. |

[/ QUOTE ] i think i remember once hearing that their tv ratings were up. i have no idea about the numbers though, and how they would rank against other programming |

Marlins attendance from 1993-1997 was just shy of 30,000/game. That includes the hit they took after the strike. 30,000/game isn't great but it's far from terrible.

So it's just a coincidence that attendance dropped after 1994, rose for 1997, dropped again in 1998? Then rose again in 2003 and 2004?
I'm not saying they're good fans, but I think it's pretty clear that they're willing to come out and see games even despite baseball's problems in Florida if there's a decent team on the field. |
