I second this... Ive had some rough patches recently with my job and breaking up with a gf of 3 years. If i hit the gym, it doesnt bother me anymore. I just feel so much better about myself. Take up hobbies that take your mind off [censored] so once your centered, you can go out and not feel so badly

Gonna have to agree - bowling league is the answer [/ QUOTE ] My friend has a bowling league team that I've subbed for once or twice. I suggested a name for the team, and they used it. Snakes on a Lane, baby. Seriously OP - this sounds like something fun and social you could get involved with...or do something like this. ScottieK |

Go see a shrink. There's zero reason not to. Talk to your boss, tell them you're going through a depression, but are seeking help. If you have had any kind of successful career there before this, they'll normally work with you on this.. Ray [/ QUOTE ]

Diet can have a big impact on how you feel. I really HATE McDonalds food, it makes me feel so unmotivated/gross/lazy.
Bowling is not a bad idea. It's good to have an activity that you enjoy outside of work and poker. I just joined a co-ed soccer league. It's awesome. I hadn't played in 10 years but I love it. Joining a gym is also good. It's an easy and natural way to feel good. Work/smork- who cares- don't sweat the small stuff. I've worked with so many D-bags. I honestly don't have any interest in hanging out with people from work out side of the office. It's always lame. It's so hard to talk about drugs and bitches when you know whatever you say is going to circulate the office. |

I can't give you any more advice than everyone else. I can tell you this cliche, the long journeys start with the first step. Monday when you go into the office, throw yourself into some work and try to do an extra-good job. At lunch go for a walk for a couple blocks, then do another project in the afternoon. In the evening, go hit a weight room. Repeat the process for a week and see how you do. I say this as advice for you, but I'm actually going to do it myself because I've been feeling exactly like the OP lately. Thanks, OOT. |

I think the most important think is to try to make friends outside of work. It sounds like you are lonely and the only people you interact with are your coworkers, so you are looking for a social outlet there and not finding it and that is making you unhappy at work. But ultimately that is not a problem with your work so much as your life outside of work.
Do you have people you used to be friends with but haven't been in touch with for a while? Maybe you can send them email/ call them and try to get together to do something and hopefully you can build some sort of social network. Otherwise, you are going to need to find ways of meeting new people although I have been there (starting a new job in a strange city) and it is hard. |

I would hold off on telling your boss, this is highly dependant on your relationship with them, and what you do. You can't untell them, and you might regret it later when things get better. Just a thought.
Has anything changed in your life to lead you down this path? |
