I wish pokerdb has a ranking system. If there is, let me know.

[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, if you don't have them little stars thingies (like, um, this player is 8 stars out of 10 ZOMG) then the site is useless. USELESS, I TELL YA.

[/ QUOTE ]
Yea, I'm still not sure exactly what the point of a ranking system is. Just looking at the numbers in the sample link shown above should tell you what you need to know, especially after you look around for a bit.

The bottom line is that poker is really not a rankable type event on an overall basis. Obviously you can say X player has the most profit or Y player has the best ROI, but you can't say Z player is the best overall. It's way too subjective and pretty much meaningless in terms of evaluating the people you're playing against.

[/ QUOTE ]
Yah, ranking is uselss in MTT's. ROI and stuff is a lot more informative. As for interface - as an IT professional - I'd recommend finding 8-10 stats people look at the most and presenting them on a summary page (initial lookup) and let them drill down further if they want to. SharkScope kinda has a right idea interface-wise, IMO.

[/ QUOTE ]
That's kinda the idea of the top section (summary statistics). The rest is just if you're curious about more specific data.

ranking systems are useless, all these chumps who have way more volume than i do but half the skills get all the rankers and fanboys hard, when my ROI and ability to move up have clearly shown i am probably one of the five to seven best players in tournament poker today

[/ QUOTE ]

hello nath,

bill parcells says, "you are, what your record says you are". methinks your record speaks most eloquently on your behalf.

these websites have some utility, but they certainly aren't the be all and end all.

Thanks, I mean I'm not really seriously questioning my ability, I just find the standards people use to measure these things funny. If I had better PR you might have seen me on P5s and the WSOP broadcasts by now. But I just try to play my game.

I also looked up some of the top players tonight and found that many of them play like 2-3x the volume I do, which explains their exposure. I'm pretty content to do what I do, because the people who know, know.

Nath, no offense, but posting in this thread multiple times undermines all the comments you are making about not caring.

According to SharkScope - you're hardly better than I am and Ansky is a losing player...

Can thepokerdb tell you anything more about a person besides the tournaments where they cashed? I was hoping to find the total losses of a few friends of mine so I could mock them >_>
