Well As someone who is no pro but have lived both on the west Coast and the East Coast
May I Sugest Ether CT or San Diego. both would probaly be good for a guy from the smalltown. since Both places City Wise are More smalltown CT expecaly but San Diego is also alot more Layed back as for Cost of Living both are about the same. for a Great Apartment its anyware from 1grand to 1500 a mounth in rent and some more for Utiltys and Weather is about the same execpt for Winter in CT which is not that bad since were Coastal. as for the games there is probaly more Games in San Diego just becuse there is more Cardrooms CT only has Foxwoods. but it makes up for that based on the Fish and the Shear size of it. |

[/ QUOTE ] Compared to inland New England, Minnesota, or Denali, yeah. Compared to San Diego?! [ QUOTE ] CT only has Foxwoods. but it makes up for that based on the Fish and the Shear size of it. [/ QUOTE ] I'm sure SD has fish, but there's definitely a good game selection, and the new room is quite nice. Notwithstanding all the abuse I like to heap on them. I was killing online and home games and got murdered the first time in a B&M. Not saying it can't be done, it might be harder than you think. Good luck. [/ QUOTE ] Every time I've played in a B&M, I've been amazed at how much softer games are at a given level. I usually play 2-3x the level B&M that I do online and find it no problem at all. The only problem with B&M is multi-tabling is difficult. |

[ QUOTE ] I don't know if you could rotate through the three hotels with poker room rates for an extended period of time but I would think rent would be reasonable. [/ QUOTE ] Don't the local Tunica poker pros just sleep in their car? [/ QUOTE ] No, that's Atlantic City. I hear Chip's Inn in Harris, Michigan is a pretty happening place. They have 3 tables and the rake is 5% up to $3 max. It is in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, so you have to get used to the weird accent: aboot, yah, gee, etc. It is a real happening town, especially if you have a criminal record and are trying to hide out from the law, and you are only 6 hours away from St. Ignace, another gambling mecca. Northern Michigan casinos spread excellent games such as Pan-Gin-Rummy-Pineapple-Fruitcake Poker and Go-Fish-Go-Hunting and other popular local games. Occasionally when the games are slow, you may have to stand on the highway with a roadsign recruiting players, but dont worry, people from the UP are excellent drivers and if they do manage to side swipe you will almost always stop and courteously try to move you off the road to somewhere less conspicous. -J |

Kansas City is a really nice city to live in, and if you get tired of the card rooms there you can always drive an hour or three to another gambling center.

[ QUOTE ]
Norcal has many good options within proximity. Rent and cost of living are high, but you can get around via public transportation. Fortunately, there are a lot of non-poker things to do in the Bay area. having lived in socal and norcal, I enjoyed the latter more. [/ QUOTE ] Indeed lots of places to play in the bay... and it's a great town. If you can afford the rent/homeloan then go for it. I don't think someone could pay me to live in SoCal unless it was down in San Diego... that's a fun place to visit. Good luck! F |
