To be clear, it's not a great or very good movie. It's entertaining, I like seeing Seattle look pretty and I have a crush on the lead actress.

your Seattle bias is clearly clouding your judgment...put this movie in New York or Chicago...would you say it is any good?

yeah. it's better than all the teen movies that came after it (American Pie and such) but not the ones before it (Breakfast Club, Fast Times, Sixteen Candles).

You could throw in stuff like Varsity Blues, Never Been Kissed, She's All That, etc.

Obviously those aren't as good as what you've mentioned.

And as gay as it sounds, one of the best TEEN/HS movies is

MEAN GIRLS (I <3 Lohan pre-trainwreck)

I think everyone should give this movie a once over...

Yeah, I was putting those into the same category as american pie. I enjoyed Varsity Blues though.

I wouldn't limit it to "of its time." -- but of its time, I think the lame and militantly unambitious _She All's That_ is more entertaining. And I think Styles is a cutie.
