[ QUOTE ]
I see what you are saying. Basically I will go broke at some point playing such a large % of my bankroll regardless of how I try to minimize the effect of negative variance. Fantastic. I think it would take forever playing mirco-limit tables to get the, what... $8K I would need to play at a level I desire. Maybe I'll give it a shot though - I know you all know what you're taking about, thanks. [/ QUOTE ] well i must admit i overemphasized the first part. you will not definatelyg o broke. players can hit a good run of cards and win long enough to increase their comfort and understanding of the game which will then turn into a successful poker career. that that really only happens to players whose variance is large neough to allow that to happen. only getting your $ in on short favorable odds reduces your variance and the likelyhood you'll go on a large upward swing (or a downward one). but it also reduces your expected earn a great deal...it likely makes you a small winner, breakeven, ora small loser depending on how well you read hands etc. so inreality, assuming the above 3 player descriptions are equally likely, and assuming you have somewhat of an allowable bankroll for the stakes you play (which 1/4 on the table is not), you will be, in expectation, a breakeven player that loses to the rake. either way, the point is, if it's fun for you, go right ahead. just consider using these forums to improve and start lower like others have to become large winners over longer time (thus sacrificing the short run enjoyment of playing higher and the thrill of having a large % of your br on the table) GL Barron |
