For that analogy to be true there'd have to be designer 1992 Toyota Corollas costing dozens of times more than a usual Toyota.

No, not really. Would you want to be roll up to a nice event in a Toyota Corrola? Then why would you want to in jeans?

It's different. You "roll up" to a nice event in a pair of jeans, they look at the pair of jeans, and say "oh, it's nice." No one is going to move my belt out of the way of the label to see who makes them. If they look good, they look good.

And these look good... aww yeah. Going to take them for a test drive.

This was aimed at the guy who only wears gucci's etc. Im TT-esque when it comes to clothes, I got myslef a closet full that would make some of you guys vomit. I have like 4 pairs of jeans though, and they all cost 50 or 60 bucks. There is really no difference in fit as long as you find a cut you like between a 50 or 500$ pair. And most jeans look very similar anyways. Dunno, I just hate guys who wear jeans to formal events etc, and justify it by saying they spend 300$ on them. Classless, imo (even by my low standards).

That's missing a point. I wouldn't wear jeans to a black tie-event, but I wouldn't wear a dinner jacket to a trendy club either. If I attend a function where jeans are the best option I will wear the best jeans I can get, the same way I would wear a bespoke suit to a business meeting. These days there are no universal dresscodes, each subculture has it's own. I do wear suits to punk gigs though, but's that's kind of correct too, since I am deliberately objecting the way traditional punk uniform has become exactly that, a uniform and not a way of individualistic expression.

Sidenote: If I had the right to choose, every man would wear a bespoke 3-piece suit in public but since that's impossible in today's "individualistic" world I just try to do the best that I can. I sometimes wear jeans because sometimes that is the correct attire.

Im with ya, but I usually overdress no matter what the event too, so if jeans are acceptable, I probably wont be in jeans.

the difference in quality is incredible (though not immediately noticeable).

That's incorrect pretty much by definition.

I buy $40 jeans and can wear them for years without them ripping or coming apart. How can the difference in quality be that great? I think some of you guys are just fashion snobs throwing around some BS about quality so you can justify spending $200 on a pair of jeans.

PS. those black jeans pictured above are hideous.
