6 games

NYY runs scored: 27
boston: 26

Here we go again with that 10-1 victory distorting the whole meaning of that stat. You're not fooling anyone except maybe yourself.

LOL

i sometimes wish i could be blissfully ignorant of what actually matters like some of you as i feel my life would be easier to live.

i mean seriously...picking 6 games that were ~20 days apart as a barometer of how a team will fare against another is retarded. when i point out that over tha HUGE SAMPLE of 6 games the teams scored basically the same amout of runs, two of the sporting events forums brightest choose to pick THAT apart when it actually says more about what will happen in the future than the w-l record over six games.

wow NY is fielding a better team than BOS right now! i have been saying that for two months. thinking boston has 'no chance' vs NY based on 6 H2H games is just stupid. sorry.

Good point by you but no, I was laughing out loud at this:

"i sometimes wish i could be blissfully ignorant of what actually matters like some of you as i feel my life would be easier to live."

Poor Sublime, life is so tough for him having to put up with us blissfully ignorant posters.

I don't think that him wanting to be 'blissfully ignorant' has anything to do with your ignorant posts making his life easier to live. The two really have nothing to do with each other.

Basically what you are saying is that the run differential, over the 6 game spread, is just variance, because its based on one game where they won 10-1. This is true. But it is laughable that you are using this argument, that variance dominates over a 6 game stretch, to support your larger argument that the Yankees are way better than Boston BECAUSE OF THE SAME 6 GAME STRETCH.

You guys are a riot. I didn't bring up the 6 game comparison, you guys did. When I point out your flawed thinking with the one run differential, you rake me for using a 6 game sample. It's your friggin example not mine.

It isn't flawed thinking though, thats the whole point. You just keep saying it is, and you are unable to demonstrate it. Winning 15-1 and then losing 2-3, 1-2, really IS better than winning 4-3, 3-2 and then losing 9-2. Sure, it isn't better in the standings, but it is better GOING FORWARD. The former team is going to win more games than the latter team, from here on out. And thats exactly what we are talking about, which team will be better FROM HERE ON OUT.

If you think we are maybe arguing that the Red Sox did not in fact lose 5 of 6, because they only scored one less run, then you have the wrong argument. No one is arguing about which is better historically, we are arguing about which is better predictively.
