I'm not making excuses for Gagne. However, a bunch of those pitches in the AB against Thomas certainly could have been called strikes. Lester had a few, too. Burnett has been getting everything close.

I thought so too, to be honest... esp that 3-1 pitch to zaun in the 8th. definetly thought that was a strike, but zaun and the ump seemed to think not immediately

WTF does Varitek always swing at marginal pitches at best, ahead in the count, when they need base runners. I am beginning to dislike him.

[/ QUOTE ]

lol. I was wondering if he noticed how Zaun didn't swing at the first pitch after Gagne walked the bases loaded.

Anyone else think Sox pitchers have been getting squeezed tonight while Burnett has gotten the call on anything even remotely close to a strike?

You can give Gagme any excuse you want. He sucks.

You guys will have manny back sometime soon, so dont worry. You guys have Tampa this weekend.... so 3 free games, the Jays will go 2-2 vs ny so you guys will gain a game or so probably on the Yankees.

This is true, Gagne really had no pressure situations in those appearances.
