Mat has said there won't be restriction on posting entertainment stuff in OOT, even if an Entertainment Forum gets created: but I wonder what would/should be acceptable/expected in an Ents forum?
I'd say anything to do with the enjoyment of or the making/production of: - Films - TV - Books & Written Material (eg poems) & writers - Music (live and recorded) for sure, personally. But what about other entertainment? Stage Plays/Shows - Ents (with a big question mark against Vegas shows like the magic ones etc) Video Games - hmmm, not sure. Reviews would definitely get more attention in a new forum, I think, but...I dunno Strip Clubs - i'ts definitely entertainment, but I'd say definitely OOT material Brothel visits etc - OOT 100% I wondered what others thought on that, and if there's any other forms of 'entertainment' that come up in OOT that I've missed? |

db,
"Mat has said there won't be restriction on posting entertainment stuff in OOT, even if an Entertainment Forum gets created" Splitting A&E discussion across two forums would probably be an even worse idea. |

I think it's a great idea, personally. Let OOters decide where they think their entertainment stuff best fits...why not? There's a lot of fear, uncertainty and doubt about all this, but anyone who goes through changes will know, usually, you end up with some middle ground that is nowhere near the extremes that get touted when transition happens. Here's my prediction (likely to be just as wrong as all the others, admittedly): An Ent forum will end up sort of like the 'ent reference' for OOT, PLUS a lot of non-OOTers will start feeding into it. I do believe an awful lot of OOTers will freely move between OOT and ENT when they visit. I think OOT and ENT will be the two most closely-aligned/cross-visited fora here (in the OT section, anyway). Take me...I personally go to the SMP a lot cos it interests me, and I think the stuff it raises is excellent in its own forum. I think if it were in OOT, I'd miss some of it - and the discussions it has would be much shorter and less interesting. I avoid politics/sport cos I don't like them, and are therefore I'm glad they're in their own forum. I think the same will be true of ENT, you get interested people visiting, but they won't be deserting OOT for ENT, will they? And there's no way I'm gonna stop visiting/posting in OOT if all this happens. I bet a lot of people will be exactly the same...you included Hell, this may even get these OOT-virgins throughout the strats into OOT by the back door... |

db,
I've explained in detail in a couple of posts why this would be a bad idea. If you think what I've written is incorrect, please respond to the points I've made. I am assuming in those posts that 2+2's primary goal with the non-poker forums is to maximize traffic. As it stands, your argument seems to be primarily that you would like to have a forum where you can discuss A&E topics with some buddies and even if nobody cares about them, your posts will maintain higher visibility. |

db,
As for moving between forums, you should note that there are a number of people like me who used to frequently participate in sports and politics and "things that fall into SMP" discussions when they were in OOT, but don't frequent those forums post-split. |
