jason, your rebuttle makes you come off much better and lifts some of the cloud that, imo, you held over yourself. your original post made you come off as judgemental, as if david's laziness is unacceptable. and yes, it does make you come off as holier than thou. my insult of "spoiled brat" probably shouldnt be taken at face value. maybe judgmental brat is the more accurate label, but spoiled brat sounds better. for the record, youre a good guy and your post was probably only over the top because adding shock value is often alot of fun.

"David also does not enjoy educating people." There you are wrong. Although I would rather it not be about poker. Meanwhile I got the feeling your diatribe was to a large degree spurred by something related to Brad Booth. Is that true? [/ QUOTE ] Out of curiosity, if you had to explain your intentions for writing and maintaining 2p2, how would you break it down in percentages? What percent is money, what percent is your passion for poker, what percent is your passion for education? I had the impression you wrote your books for money and for recognition which would ultimately lead to more money. |

[/ QUOTE ] I actually thought strassa's neutered rebuttal makes his original post come off lamer. And strassa, the walking during games stuff was clearly illustrative detail of the bigger picture, don't apologize for it. |

Nah not really, I still can't see what the walking away during big games has anything to do with any of my points. That's really the only thing I backed down from... I dont think his arrogance, love of being right, or my preference for being the broke star over being DS has anything to do with his annoying table presence.

[ QUOTE ] David also does not enjoy educating people. He wrote a book to make money, he limped into a TV final table to get exposure for his book. He write on 2p2 to keep the forums going and to occasionally write out interesting posts. He is a really smart guy obviously! But David would not argue with the fact that most of his education/2p2 motivations are strickly driven by dollar bills. [/ QUOTE ] Strasser, You know as well as I do, or you should, as should everybody, that the argument stating such and such a person is not noble and altruistic in their efforts to teach will never go anywhere and will always be neither here nor there. In this society making money is a necessity, so the nobility or lack thereof in one's actions can never and will never be viewed in a vacuum. Plus, it is presumptuous to assume the two must be mutually exclusive. Imo this is the only thing truly out of line and an outright besmirching of David's integrity, challenging his motivations when you have no true intimate knowledge of the workings of his brain and base it only on some posts on an internet forum, half of which are so tonque-in-cheek it's absurd. I believe an apology is in order. [/ QUOTE ] I like your point about money drive and passion for teaching not being mutually exclusive is fair, and is why I asked David to try to break them down. I can't recall David ever mentioning his intentions for writing poker books, but if you know anything about him its likely David thought is was a very +EV decision. That EV includes $$, life EV, fame, girls (I defer to snagglepuss on this issue), personal satisfaction, etc. I don't think I have anything to apologize for until DS comes out and explains how wrong I was about his intentions behind his poker writing. I do think though you are right about [ QUOTE ] In this society making money is a necessity, so the nobility or lack thereof in one's actions can never and will never be viewed in a vacuum. Plus, it is presumptuous to assume the two must be mutually exclusive. [/ QUOTE ] |
