[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Villain was 52/10/1.5 over like 40 hands. Also 52% WTSD and 60% W$SD. Never folds to a cbet. Was this river push fine? (I know it looks donkish but this guy was sort of a donkey. I thought he'd call with QQ TT obv or a straight.) PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.50 BB (6 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums) MP ($82.55) CO ($49.50) Button ($16.90) SB ($54.05) BB ($54.50) Hero ($74.20) Preflop: Hero is UTG with 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. Hero raises to $2, MP calls $2, 4 folds. I think your turn bet needed to be bigger to make this river less awkward. I probably would have leaned to a half pot value bet, but I dunno villian that well. If he floats fairly often I'd definitely go for check/raise on turn or somethin... [/ QUOTE ] Yeah, I kind of get excited with the nuts. The problem is when I turn quads it's hard for me to bet closer to the pot as I really don't want to blow him away. He doesn't really "float" but just calls bets and doesn't neccessarily try and take it away on the turn. [/ QUOTE ] Obviously check raising a float is no good then. I would have bet maybe 10 or 11 on the turn (which is kind of a scary number, I can see why u did 9). I would imagine he'd raise any decent hand on the turn, like TPTK+ (this is probably a great hand for this guy), so this is the reason I think valuetowning the river with a half pot>overpotting and hoping he has a monster. Its very doubtfull even he would slowplay the turn when you've shown that you like your hand a ton by both overpotting the flop and hitting the turn pretty hard. I suppose another viable option would be pot-half pot- near pot. Probably best for showdown monkeys, where the other line is better if they really like to draw. Another thing to note about the river is it completes a four card straight. If he's likely to shove with this anyways over a bet, then don't bother overbetting, he probably won't call without the straight and you would have gotten it in anyways if he had the straight and just bet 1/2 pot... agree? |

I think that if he had a straight he may be donkey enough to call the big overbet but not donkey enough to push over a river bet if that makes any sense. He said that he had AQ which seems to make sense. Whether he'd call a $20 on the river I dunno. |

Sounds, good. I haven't seen Sabie Sands, but it shouldn't be that much different from Southern Kruger Park. I've visited Kruger twice, and it's just been awesome. I'm a supporter of the aids awareness programs down there, but, unfortunately, the people that should recognize the threat aids poses to society and themselves - namely the majority of poor and/or uneducated people - simply don't. Anyway, I haven't been to the US west coast, but I doubt I'll find it better than Cape Town area. Also, Somerset West is a kind of a semi-beat, it's like new Germany. More foreigners than locals. If you should ever happen to go down there again, don't pass up on the Garden Route - it's by far the most beautiful part of SA imo. [/ QUOTE ] Yeah AIDS seems easy to avoid, yet people always think with their genitals . Anyways I know what you mean with your somerset west comment, it's definately true, I stayed at a B&B owned by a german, he was the most friendly german I met in my entire life though (and I met a lot of germans ), definately good times. What I was wondering though, I'm a surf addict, and was slightly disappointed not being able to find a surfboard because all shops were closed (Christmas). So I just went for a swim instead, but practically nobody was in the ocean, they all said it was full of sharks. It was kind of weird swimming there all alone constantly checking if I wasn't being chased by a great white. Is the shark population really that high, or are South Africans just scared easily? . I'm seriously considering moving closer to the sea as soon as I finished my school, leaning more towards the area between San Diego/Los Angeles now. Cape Town didn't really live up to the image I had of it, don't get me wrong though it was still a great city! |

Anyways what was your reasoning behind going allin preflop with TT? Were you just fooling around at the micro tables, or was this a serious attempt to get your feet wet at the nl tables? |
