Agreed, 2nd period was definately the best period the sabres have played all year. Ottawa still doesn't scare me like I was worried about before the series... I think this one is coming back to buffalo for game 6, and the sabres wrap it up then. I will give it to Emery though, he played by far his best game, but I still think that he sucks balls

Haha, GambleGamble PM'd me for a prediction before the game and I wouldn't bite. No more predictions for me - plus as a Devils fan, I'm a little bitter at the playoffs in general. Ottawa played a solid game tonight, but this kind of play won't win them 4 straight. Regardless I'm still happy that this might be a series again - if my team's going to get killed, I at least want to see some good hockey. [/ QUOTE ] why you gotta be so selfish... ....the Devils won some cups help us out with some mojo |

Also, thanks to McGahee for making this thread a pain in the ass to read. [/ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Another thing - man do those Sabres fans cry at every perceived penalty. The only crowd worse I can think of is Detroit. I think the game was officiated in Ottawa's favor but damn - any Sabre went down in any way and they were booing. [/ QUOTE ] I really don't think you'd have noticed it if the Senato....err....OLN announcers didn't bring it up 4 times. That happens in every arena and besides, not every franchise has gotten jobbed in the finals. |

Yeah, I have to think the refs here literally were on Ottawa's side. As insane as that sounds, it looked like it. Chris Neil apparently has a license to goon it up and the refs just look the other way, Chara is allowed to play in the goalie's crease during powerplays, and blatant interference calls just aren't called unless you aren't wearing a Sens jersey. I'm not detracting from what how Ottawa played, they played well overall tonight, but the refs certainly didn't help Buffalo's cause, and they certainly did help Ottawas.

No - I definitely noticed without the announcers' help.
It happens in every arena but not that vocally and ridiculously. As I said, Detroit is just as awful or worse - and *no* announcer is going to mention that. |

It's not like they ever hesitate to give the Sens a 5 on 3. I thought just about all of our numerous penalties have been deserved but if you're going to call those you can't let Chara and Neil get away with murder; it's lame. |

My problem tonight was with the inconsistency more than anything. They call Roy for a VERY questionable dive, and yet Neil, for lack of a better expression, can dry hump a Sabre player for almost 8 seconds on the ice while the ref, who is standing right there doesn't not only call it, but puts his hand on Neils back to leverage himself to see around Neil and watch the other players. All I want in the NHL from the officials is some frickin consistency. If you call ticky tack on one team, do it on both. |

I shouted at my TV at least 5 times tonight, getting angry at the officials. I have ref'ed in baseball and a little bit in footbal, nothing major, but I can appreciate how hard it is, so I give them the benefit of the doubt. But they have been seriously below par the past 3 games I think that is what bothers me the most, is that it hasn't been a 1 game kinda thing. If the philly series was called like this, I'm not sure the sabres could have won. Oh well, sabres will still win it in 6
