I heard from someone that Brian made this hand up to hide money from the IRS and actually made several million in the last few days he played in the big NL/PLO game.

Hmmmmmmmm.....very interesting.

If so, then it's a pretty stupid move by aba. If you're going to make up a loss, make it a vague "I just lost a 1.8 million dollar pot to some Asian guy who didn't give his name" post. If you give the name of the opponent, the IRS will be able to investigate it much easier.

I have doubts whether aba actually did this, by the way- it might be fairly easy to hide 25 grand you made in Vegas, but hiding a few hundred grand or more has to be far more difficult. Maybe buy a bunch of investment-grade diamonds and hide them somewhere, but why not just go ahead and pay the taxes and then you can invest the remainder openly in truly lucrative investments.

wow, pretty sick how it goes from brian missing a bluff to gangsters and irs conspiracies. figures how it would all start from a douche bag like pirhana to even post something thats none of his buisness. bunch of gossip hens cooped up in the hen house.

i think most of the people in here remind me of one of those sad little seal faces. got nothing better to do than sit around and gossip yet try to sound intelligent or try to type in a way that doesnt get the finger bashing from all the intellectually sharp 2+2er's. a bunch of sad seal wussies.

Cash game poker, tournament poker, and online poker are three different games. Limit poker and no-limit poker are two different games. Everyone has a niche is which they are better. I would bet Townsend would run over Bobby Baldwin if they played online. But then, they aren't playing online, are they???

[/ QUOTE ]

to desecrate a tired cliche, it is as if you want to compare red delicious apples, green delicious apples and oranges. all of these things are different, but the magnitudes of difference between any two vary.

live NLHE and online NLHE do not differ anywhere near as much as, say, tournament NLHE and cash NLHE. you try to sell this point anyway, but are ineffective.

You probably don't know that Mike Caro issued a public apology for having ever gotten involved with those guys who he eventually came to realize were a bunch of attention-seeking loonies and bs-artists.

I'm pretty sure that Georgiev *was* a cheat, and I daresay some of his stories are true, but he's such a fantasist and scam artist that it's impossible to sort the truth from the fiction.

My brother in law was at a neighbor’s house helping him with something when they got on the subject of poker. The neighbor tells him that his cousin is a good player and is on TV sometimes. He then tells him his cousin in Sam Farha. My brother in law asks him where Sam gets his money. The guy says Sam has "investors" who give him money to play with in exchange for the money back at a good return. This seems like a complete clueless or BS answer, I cannot imagine it is true. Maybe this is what Sam told him, but I doubt is true. Kind of odd that Farha seems to be very rich, yet no one knows what he does....even his cousin. Something illegal? BTW I am almost positive the guy wasn’t lying about Sam being his cousin...he was genuinely surprised that he knew who Sam was (he was foreign, and didn’t even think of Sam as "famous"). He only said his cousin played poker for a living and was on TV sometimes, and only said it was Sam Farha after he asked his name, so it wasn’t like he was dropping names to impress him.

[/ QUOTE ]

When I was yucking it at a 5-10 game at the Rio a 50ish year old man who I had been chewing the fat with saw Sammy walk by and proceeded to tell me what a [censored] he was. He then proceeded to tell a little story about sammy. Due to my lack of proper english I will present the story in seperate factoids.

-This was mid 70s - mid 80s down in good ol Texas.
-Sammy was a well known degen who was really bad at poker and lost what at the time was a decent chunk of change to multiple people.
-Sammy was a huge douche who no1 liked.
-Sammy owed like 5K to some guy who ran a smokey cardroom in the back of a bar.
-The owner of the bar had a huge Indian guy by the name of "Chief Running Bear" or something along those lines.
-Chief Running Bear told Sammy it was time to pay up.
-Sammy being Sammy tells him to go jump on a broomstick.
-Chief Running Bear proceeds to pistol whip Sammy.
-Sammy decides to pay up a couple hundred at a time over the course of a few weeks.
-THENNNNNNN Sammy disapears (still oweing $800) and no1 knew where he was or what happened to him.
-About a year later Sammy comes back to town with more money then any1 could imagine and played in all the biggest games in town etc. etc. with no1 ever getting an explanation of where the money came from

So in recap, IDK where sammy got his money from, but in line with what every1 else has said, he seems like a big shade-ball.
