i dont think mirabelli is a scrub as far as backup catchers are concerned
i'm just saying, the red sox starters didnt do as badly as people are trying to say. 20 2/3 innings, 19/4 k/bb, 3 hr allowed...i'll take my chances with that all day long. i know 3 games is incredibly insignificant in the long run, and i know what happened this weekend doesnt change what can happen next weekend, but all this "positive weekend for the yanks" talk is retarded |

mirabelli hit for like a 900 OPS in 2004 and hasn't done squat since. he was -VORP last year and projected to be that this year. he's a scrub, even for a backup catcher.

[ QUOTE ] I think the thing you miss when you look at the Sox winning three close games is that there was a lot of luck in it not being a lot worse. [/ QUOTE ] I think the Sox were damn lucky that Pedroia makes a circus catch in the 8th last night. [/ QUOTE ] And the Yanks were lucky that Ortiz and Ramirez both missed hangers that could have been crushed with two on in the first. I mean christ, Manny homers in the first rather than the third, nothing really changes except the Sox get two more runs. The Yankees bunched their hits together better which is mostly luck. |

[/ QUOTE ] you dont understand the point about sample size. the point is that yes, all those things could have easily gone wrong for the yankees and they did got lucky, but even if that did happen the results still wouldnt have been significant. people are trying way too hard to draw conclusions from this series, especially considering that many of the injured players will be back very soon. |
