"I guess i'm going to be doing a lot of sight-seeing if I lose this hand" or something close to this with typos corrected

I can tell just by lookin at that guy that he's an idiot. I suspect his slow roll was more of a situation of: "i'm a real idiot. i have a straight flush. i should try to say something clever. what can i say that's clever. i'm an idiot."

[/ QUOTE ]

With respect to Corey Zeidman and Jen Harman last year:

It's obvious you didn't read "Avoiding the Negative Freeroll" in HOH Volume III, where Harrington analyzes this hand in depth from both players' perspectives. If you had, you'd know Zeidman is a very experienced player who played the hand quite well. BTW he finished in 39th in the 2003 WSOP ME. Hardly seems like an "idiot" to me.

Oh please, garden variety bad beats are a dime a dozen.

Now, at my table we got shorty all in with QQ and "villain" with 88. Flop, Q44, villain congratulates shorty on a nice hand. I make the mistake of pointing out that "villain" could still runner-runner quads.

You do the math...

Being all-in PF --> not a bad beat, just a funny way to lose an 80/20 match-up.

[/ QUOTE ]

So according to you, it is not a bad beat to be an 80/20 favorite when the money goes in, then a 99/1 favorite after the flop, and lose?

What exactly would qualify as a bad beat in your world? And what color is the sky there?

[/ QUOTE ]

Psychologically, a bad beat, sure. As in QQ guy saw the flop and said, 'aw, hells yeah!'
But technically, still just a standard above average 80/20 beat, considering that's where the money went in.
There are comments about this every day, how can you have almost 1000 posts and not know this.

P.S. That 'what color is the sky' stuff is lame.

[/ QUOTE ]
If you get your money in as an 80% favorite and lose, you were given a bad beat. What about that do you not understand?

[/ QUOTE ]

And again I ask, if being a 4/1 favorite when the money goes in is not a bad beat, what is a bad beat in your world?

[/ QUOTE ]

Yawn.
I don't want to derail the thread.
The discussion was whether was whether the flopped boat losing to quads when it was all in preflop was a 'garden variety' bad beat or not.
Nobody said it wasn't bad, but 80/20 is still garden variety, not the 99/1 if the money was in postflop.

It would qualify as a suprabad beat if the money went in on the flop. Of course it's a bad beat...but nothing more than a funny 80/20 one. On a side note, wow you're a cool guy with the superduper insults! I bet the girls dig you!

If Raymer even Final Tables this event, I would give him serious consideration as one of the best tourney players along with Phil Ivey and Dan Harrington.

[/ QUOTE ]
He'd have to final table, though. 1 out of 2500, 22 out of 5600, and then top 100, say, out of 8400 wouldn't cut it.

So, it's both? Which is it? Or are you now admitting you were wrong the first time?
