Rep. Goodlatte just showed up at Partypoker. He said he postponed the vote because he saw some of his favorite fish online.

they often debate on several bills in a day, and then vote on them a couple days later. Everyone shows up for the vote, but only the advocates for and against show up for the debate.

take the time to write snail mail letters to your senators/reps. You can do automated form letters but snail mail will get their attention because it requires more time to write/mail.

We are doing two suspension bills (relatively non-controvertial measures) for about 20 minutes and then voting on:
1) Berkley Amendment to HR 4411
2) Passage of HR 4411
Suspension bills if recorded vote is requested

They just lump votes together as much as possible to help Members with scheduling and time.

Votes postponed

[/ QUOTE ]

WTF just happened? They took a voice vote on the amendment, Berkley asked for a recorded vote (I think) then . . . nothing? Everything got postponed?

[/ QUOTE ]

From house.gov:

[ QUOTE ]
1:41 P.M. -
POSTPONED PROCEEDINGS - At the conclusion of debate on the Berkley amendment, the Chair put the question on adoption of the amendment and by voice vote, announced that the noes had prevailed. Ms. Berkley demanded the yeas and nays and the Chair postponed further proceedings on the question of adoption of the amendment until later in the legislative day.

The Speaker announced that votes on suspensions, if ordered, will be postponed until July 12.

H.R. 4411:
to prevent the use of certain payment instruments, credit cards, and fund transfers for unlawful Internet gambling, and for other purposes

How did Conyers get elected? My 4 yr old niece could give a better speech than this guy.

[/ QUOTE ]

Conyers is very slow spoken but the man is actually a genius. he is the one organizing all the amendments what Berkley says etc. My boys hardcore, always been a terrible speaker, though. In all honesty he is one of those most powerful Dems in the house.

So wait: Is berkely actually a good guy and making a super smart strategic move to get the bill voted down or is she just a hyper radical anti internet gambling person who is stupidly helping us out?

[/ QUOTE ]

I'm not watching, but I'll note that she's representing Nevada.

I think its a good sign.

[/ QUOTE ]

Its not. Its not a sign of anything. Just Congress trying to package a bunch of votes together.
