Clark, you're being unreasonable imo.

He's really not. I've watched this trainwreck unfold. Was Elaine an annoying poster? There's certainly an argument that she was. So she got kicked out of OOT.

She wrote a response to getting kicked out of OOT. It was a bit immature IMO. So what?

In response, one of the lamest threads I've seen thus far erupts (this incident has caused around three 150-200+ reply threads, and they're all relatively boring). It's full of nasty and harsh commentary directed at Elaine. Now I don't care if my wife is annoying other people, but if I'm Ed, I'm not quitting 2+2. I'm using my admin powers to find out where a couple people live (most notably Tony Paladino) and bringing a baseball bat.

WTF is wrong with people here? Mob mentality much?

[/ QUOTE ]
Clark jumped all over JBB for making his first post in any of those three threads, and all he said was that a passage from Elaine's post was childish; that is unreasonable. It was childish, and she posted it specifically to draw attention to herself. The fact that she left soon after has little to do with whether or not people should respond to it. If she made less of an attention whore out of herself less people would have responded.

rj - you seemed like a cool dude the one time I met you. You probably still are. But let's face it; you could do well to learn a some restraint when it comes talking [censored] about people and you could practice a bit more self censorship when it comes to your posting.

[/ QUOTE ]

i cannot believe you seriously just made this post. the only interaction i believe we;ve had on here in the last month was you going out of your way to call me stupid when i said clark was reacting. yet im the one who needs "restraint when talking about people and self censorship?" well, its ...

RJ,

Here's the thing.

I say this on the basis of several conversations in IRC as well as on the forums. When somebody says something critical of you, or with which you disagree, you're very quick to start saying things like "pretty obvious we're beyond reason here". You leave very little room for simple differences of opinion, and are, IMO, too quick to start attacking people and not their message. It's like every time somebody disagrees with you, or is slightly critical it's because they're some grand scale idiot, and that's just not the case.

The ends up escalating every argument in which you're involved to a very emotional, very personal level. I like you, and I think you mean well a lot, but I think if you did something as goofy as counting to 5, or making some attempt to see things from the other side, you'd save yourself a lot of stress (and more importantly generate less ill will towards you from other posters).

Heh, that's not a bad idea. If I were Ed, I'd probably ban about 50 posters on this board for constantly attacking my wife, and when they say, "you're on a power trip you jerkoff for using your admin powers!" I'd respond with something like, "guess what, life ain't fair, punk." Because that's basically the mentality of pretty much everyone who has been over the top about this - that they are treating her the same way they'd treat anyone else would that wrote the things she did.

you didn't seriously write this did you rj? Do you realize that you're in the 5% on the tardness curve? And this isn't an insult. It's a fact, so please Bob, let it be.

it took these two posts by boris for people to critisize MY posting technique. this board is fun in terms of it having the most insane biases possible. im not really upset or anything, just in my brain, we;re stuck in this spot where im going "jeez, is boris a troll or is he actually being serious" then when there is no possible way hes being serious(i cant give him credit for seriously writing the quotes above) i think, "well, he has to be trolling". im sure he will deny this being the case, so im left with some kind of logical impossibility, that is, the 2 above quotes. i wont be back in this thread. enjoy the rational, unbiased arguments guys.

rj

ps for dids,

if you seriously think im being unreasonable here thats fine. but there have been many times where you and i have gotten in an argument, i would point out a bias you had that changed your stance wrt the argument at hand and then you would deny it existed, we would talk more, your bias would be completely exposed, i would point it out again and you would go "oh yeah, i guess that was biased". when we talk about that exact same point now you again seem to forget admitting this bias. i just cannot possibly see how you could not think that what boris said was the most laughably hypocritical thing in this thread.(if it was a parody of my past posts it was clever to the point of being funny, but it didnt seem to be) in almost back to back sentances he calls me stupid, says its a fact, and then says i need to not insult people, and then you come in and say i neeed to stop treating things like facts. if i seem frustrated, maybe you can stop and look and figure out why that might be?

This has nothing to do with [censored] or open letters.

rj - I didn't say you need to stop insulting people. I said you need to be more selective with what you choose to post.

Clark - don't worry about editing. I'm off that kick.

I also very much liked what you had to say.

Boris and PITTM - your argument with each other needs to end. Please take it to PM.
